I was sad to see the tree stumps where three very large shade trees used to provide shade in our area. The grounds were clean and mowed and the restrooms were kept stocked. The atmosphere was very calm and laid back. Plan on bringing your own shade if you are tent camping. and if you planned on using a hammock you might not find the spot to. The fire pits are in great shape so plan on using one. And there is a grocery store right down the road in case you need to grab something.

The bathroom/shower houses are terrible. They have not been updated in years. the floors, walls and shower controls are in terrible condition. They are in medium clean condition. nothing has been done to them in years. Makes me wonder where all the money that they collect from the sites goes.

I don't like lakes, in my opinion I guess it's a nice place to be with family if you are person that likes being in the outdoors, they have fishing areas and boat areas, so it's kind of nice that they separate one thing from other

We have always enjoyed our stay. The camp site is ready and clean. The park attendants are helpful and pleasant. We like that the area is patrolled on a regular basis by either conservation or sheriff. Stockton Lake is beautiful.

Ruark west is one of our favorite campgrounds. Site 35 catches the afternoon sun. The way the site is angled makes it so you have yo drive past it and go up around the loop and come back to it.
