The Pomme de Terre Damsite campground is an especially quiet, well maintained spot; EXCEPT for the shower house water faucets and volumes.

Campground host and park rangers are always visible in the park. The park was packed on Memorial weekend and everyone in the park was very friendly and well behaved.

Campsite was nice. No shade but we had a canopy set up. Our neighbors were rowdy and tons of people there all the time. Tons of cars parked around their site and ours. Lots of partying and screaming foul language. It was something my young children have never experienced before and I wanted to just pack up and leave but I knew my kids would be really disappointed if we ended our trip early so we stayed. Makes me nervous to take them camping again. It definitely was not a kid friendly environment.

From Springfield, MO, take US 65 north for 60 miles to Preston, MO.. Continue on Highway 54 west to Hermitage, MO., then take Highway 254/ 64 south to Carsons Corner and follow Highway 254 west toward the dam.
The entrance to Damsite Park is on the south side of Highway 254.
