Love the lake and campground. My only complaint is the smell from the sewage treatment by the bath house. We were on site 8 and the smell was strong.

The weeds leading down to the shoreline are a disgrace to the park. They are so high and thick in some places it makes it almost impossible to walk and very dangerous! This campground used to be the best around, but not now. During our last visit, we saw numerous dogs walking around loose and definitely not on leashes as supposedly required. This could be very dangerous also. I personally had two large dogs run out at me. One dog was leisurely lounging on the top of a picnic table where campers eat!!! They all need to be on leashes!!!

The Dam site camping park is loosing a lot of trees due flooding and other things over the passed few years.
Are there any plans to start replacing the trees?

The campsite was clean, the other campers were friendly, check in was easy and places to eat and grab snacks were so close! The view was awesome and I loved being able to look out on the water.!

From Springfield, MO, take US 65 north for 60 miles to Preston, MO.. Continue on Highway 54 west to Hermitage, MO., then take Highway 254/ 64 south to Carsons Corner and follow Highway 254 west toward the dam.
The entrance to Damsite Park is on the south side of Highway 254.
