Wonderful campground! Quiet, peaceful, and well spaced out campsites. The camp loop is nice to walk around. Campsites are on the river or a short walk to it. The camp hosts were amazing! Very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. The toilets are clean and campsites are clean. We really enjoyed our time there.

We’ve visited Rombo CG for a number of years. Beautiful spot on the Bitterroot River. The campground is relatively quiet and the large Ponderosa Pines provide shade. We do miss our former host, Rombo Rick, however the current hosts do a good job on keeping the CG clean. Have had the water issues for two seasons when spigots were turned off. Last visit in August, the FS has water available in front of the host campsite. I understand it is a complex issue involving the entire system in the CG.
There are some nice hikes in the area, especially up near the reservoir. The ranger station down the road from Rombo is an excellent source for trail info. My husband and I are very experienced fly fishers and we’ve noticed a decline in the quality of fishing in CG area. This river gets pounded by guides and anglers floating, I would say heavy fishing pressure. It is catch and release for the cutthroat. I observed mishandling of fish before releasing them which resulted in fish mortality. I know this is an issue for Fish and Game.
