Bloody Dick Cabin

Water system closed … this was not disclosed. Remote location should always disclose this in advance. Road work on culverts did not allow access by vehicle to cabin. Very poor experience due to failure of Forest service to disclose important details.

Cabin in great shape, and the new solar panel and electric lighting is a nice touch. Many trees down over the Eunice Creek Trail due to a forest fire.

Setting and facilities were as expected and accommodating.

Beaverhead Forest Service needs to do more for these recreation spots and stop taking so much money.

Beautiful cabin. Well taken care of grounds. Loved the area. The stars were amazing.

Mosquitoes were awful but that’s the nature and not the cabin. Lol

I have stayed at over 3 dozen FS cabins and this cabin is deplorable. It is absolutely filthy inside, no garbage can for the garbage bags that you must bring even though other cabins smartly provide them, there is NO RUNNING WATER anywhere at the cabin or the campground, the ax handle is split all the way down so you cannot chop wood, no picnic table, the bathroom is filthy, reeks, and they don't stock tp?? There is absolutely no silverware and very minimal dishes, no cleaning supplies as stated. The prison cot mattresses need to be replaced. I realize these are rustic cabins, however when you expect there to be water, cleaning supplies, an ax, tp, etc... This cabin was an extremely disappointing vaca for everyone involved and I will never stay here again!

We snowmobiled in from Jackson for our first visit 1/26-1/28. The trip was a grand adventure and we love the historical connections to Chief Joseph and Lewis and Clark. The route was not totally clear at a few junctions but Onyx was an excellent tool, if you have it. The cabin is clean and has the usual supplies.The woodshed is well stocked with rounds - we split extra to leave for the next guests. Plan to split wood for your stay. There are great loops of winding trails to explore if you have the snow. Heads up to those following us in the next month or so - the snow level was frighteningly low for 7400’ at the end of January and it decreased while we were there. Based on the log entries, it seems visitors are expecting water to be available and are often surprised. Heads up that you should probably bring what you will need..

Beautiful, serene, peaceful, and comfortable. Will definitely visit again.

We had a great time at Bloody Dick. Nice surprise that there were a couple lights. The gas oven does not get very hot but we improvised on the wood stove with our bakeables.
