About Hunters Spring Cabin

Hunters Spring provides a serene escape in the mountains of central Montana. The cabin is open year-round and is secured with a combination lock. It is a prime destination for hunting, hiking, off-highway vehicle riding, snowmobiling and cross country skiing enthusiasts. The cabin is a great launching point for whatever type of recreation you wish to do. Hunters Spring Cabin is a must on your next destination plans! Summer access is via a gravel Forest Service 274 up to the cabin. The combination for the cabin will also open the gate to the driveway of the cabin. Wonderful location and space! We had an amazing weekend. The only hiccup is that someone without a reservation was already in the cabin and insisted they also had a reservation when we got there. This was not true. After traveling a half hour back down the mountain to get cell service to call recreation.gov, the “squatters” eventually came down (we saw them drive by) and we went back and enjoyed our weekend.

nice location, but, not as clean as most other forest service cabins in which we have stayed, everything in kitchen pretty greasy. We tried to clean it up as best we could

The kitchen and stove were very dirty from the previous guests. There was cut firewood but no maul to split the wood. The couches could be replaced with something you don’t sink to the floor in when you sit down.
