The original Big Creek Cabin was built in 1907 and it still stands on this site. The current cabin, a former guard station, was completed in 1925 and sits right next to the
original.
Big Creek Cabin is the largest cabin in the Yellowstone District, a 28-by-40 log structure with five rooms and two porches. It offers rustic accommodations with limited
amenities. Guests will need to bring much of their own gear and supplies.
The cabin is accessible by vehicle when there's no snow, however, four-wheel drive is strongly recommended. In the winter, skis or snowshoes are required to cover the
half-mile to the cabin from the plowed road. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety.

Big Creek Cabin offers a fantastic experience with its spacious interior, multiple sleeping arrangements, and a lovely outdoor fire pit. Guests appreciate the easy access in winter, ample parking, and nearby hiking trails. While some critters were noted, they did not detract from the overall enjoyment, making it a memorable spot for future visits.
Such a cool spot! Went here in the Winter, parked and snowmobiled in. Had a great time with family and friends. Plenty of bunk beds, table space. We didn’t spend a lot of time outside, because it was so cold. One person in our party went cross country skiing. Cozy cabin, would definitely return.

We loved our stay at Big Creek! The trail in was pretty well packed and did not require skis for the 1/4 mi or so walk to the cabin. Be aware there was only one pot and one large pan for cooking food. We are accustomed to the huge variety of cooking and kitchen stuff brought into cabins and this one was definitely spare. That said, this was by far and away the cleanest cabin I have ever stayed in! Definitely will be returning! Also suggest whomever goes in next brings along an extra set of sock-style propane lantern mantles- we replaced the ones that were there but there with our own.

This cabin was fabulous! We had no trouble keeping it warm as long as we kept the fire stoked. We enjoyed sitting on the porch enjoying the morning sun. The road can get a little juicy, take your time and watch for oncoming traffic and watch for wildlife! We were lucky enough to have a mountain lion run in front of us on the road for about 20 ft. We only hiked up the road but next time want to spend more time investigating the trails. A truly wonderful experience and won't hesitate to book another week!!
