This is our family's go-to cabin for large get-togethers. There is ample space for people to sleep, 2 full indoor bathrooms, a huge and well stocked kitchen with 2 stoves and 2 refrigerators and all the pots/pans/etc you could want, plus a nice space with couches and a fireplace. It almost has the feel of a VRBO rather than your typical FS cabin. The outdoor space for gathering around a fire pit is very nice (there was some seating but it would be useful to bring your own camp chair) as is the covered porch with benches. We made homemade ice cream on the porch using the outdoor electrical outlets. The proximity to several lakes for fishing or swimming was also a huge bonus. There is space to camp or park an RV as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone with a large group who wants a drive-up experience with lots of amenities.

Cabin is outfitted extremely well and is comfortable. There's literally 2 of everything - 2 coffee pots, 2 toasters, 2 griddles, 2 ovens, 2 microwaves, 2 sinks, etc. Bedrooms are downstairs (and outside). Electricity and running hot & cold water even in the winter. Wow. Everything is updated and in good shape, and plenty of cleaning supplies to keep it tidy when you leave. No cell service anywhere close, so the sign that says call the electrical company when the power goes out doesn't make much sense. Backup propane stove for heat was broken with a 3 month old out of service sign on it. The only disappointment is the lack of recreation at the cabin. It sits in the midst of Plum Creek timber lands, with a road right behind the cabin, so it isn't a remote experience, even though it's a 32 mi drive in a gravel road. You will hear road traffic. Very limited recreation at the cabin without a drive. I think it's an old decommissioned campground that sits adjacent; there are troads to walk around (but not enough snow to ski). Otherwise it's a 5+ mile drive to find a decent trail or lake. (And we do not agree with doubling the price to $90/night)

Great location and facilities. Down side is that there is likely mold in the walls. Several folks stying with us have commented as such, and all of us end up with sinus issues there every year. Issues go away after getting out of the building for a while.

This rental is located approximately 32 mi up the Thompson River Road (County Road 56 on maps, County Road 556 on the ground) from its junction with Montana Highway 200, five miles east of Thompson Falls, Montana. It may also be accessed from U.S. Highway 2 by turning south on the Thompson River Road (County Road 56 on maps, County Road 556 on the ground) between McGregor Lake and Lower Thompson Lake, approximately 40 mi west of Kalispell, Montana. After leaving Highway 2 or 200, area roads are low standard gravel or dirt and are often rough. Area roads also serve logging trucks and should be driven with care. During the winter, it may be necessary to hike, ski or snowmobile for at least a mile to the cabin, as roads are not always plowed. Maps are available online or for purchase by calling the Plains/Thompson Falls Ranger District.
Highway access
The Bend Guard Station is accessible via Montana Highway 200, located approximately 5 miles to the west, and U.S. Highway 2, which is about 40 miles to the east. Access to the property is via Thompson River Road, a county road that connects to these major highways.
