Sheridan campground is small and rustic but well maintained and its proximity to Red Lodge made it just what we needed.

We stayed in spot 7 for two nights while exploring the bear tooth highway. Campsite is close to rock creek which is gorgeous. It’s hard to find, down a bumpy gravel road. Be sure to use the directions from the app. We noticed most sites were reserved but people didn’t show up which was odd. Bathroom is very clean for a pit toilet. Campground is well cared for and there is a double site and bear box and campfire rings in every spot. You can see the creek from many of the campsites. Lots of deer pass through and we saw a moose across the creek. On our last night a grizzly bear showed up at dusk. It hung out a while about 20 feet from our camper. It was very quiet so it may have been around more than we realized. It didn’t bother us, just dug around in the dirt but it was a surprise. We noticed locals seem to drive in to check the area frequently. Friendly and not bothersome. We would not recommend tent camping here unless you are very brave. We would come back again if we were in the area. It’s peaceful and the scenery is great.
