We had a fantastic time like we always do.
Recommend skiing at Lost Trail and Chief Joseph Pass.
Pay it forward. Please empty the wood stove ashes, leave plenty of chopped wood and kindling, and make sure the wood shed is locked.

Very out of the way, very nice cabin.
Quiet, peaceful, with the sound of a stream outside.
It had power line power (which conflicts with the recreation.gov description which said solar).
Only one outlet, but that was all that was needed for my CPAP machine.

Very nice place. I'm glad everyone works so hard to keep it clean. There was a packrat making a big messy nest in the woodshed -- fall is when they do that -- so I let the USFS know. Please be careful not to leave the cabin door open at night, or that nasty sucker will run inside. Kudos to USFS for keeping this rental open and in such good shape!

Very nice place. I'm glad everyone works so hard to keep it clean. There was a packrat making a big messy nest in the woodshed -- fall is when they do that -- so I let the USFS know. The Bitterroot NF and East Fork Cabin have become my favorite place to just relax for a few days. Just a couple hours away, and the most beautiful scenery you can ask for. It is very peaceful, private, and quiet. I can just sit by the river all day and chill out. Plenty of space to walk around without leaving the property. Now, if I could just get reservations again before the weather turns snowy, it is a popular place, so plan ahead! Enjoy!

From Sula, travel northwest on Highway 93 for less than a mile. Turn northeast (right) onto East Fork Road/County Road 472 and continue about 16 miles to the cabin. Maps may be purchased by calling the Darby-Sula Ranger District at 406-821-3913.
In the winter months (October through April), you may have to park at the gates and walk approximately 600ft. to the cabin. The road is usually plowed to the cabin but there are times it is not. You may want to bring a small plastic sled to transfer gear from the vehicle to the cabin just in case. In the summer months you may drive right to the cabins main parking areas.

Arrival & departure
- Check-in at 2:00 PM and check-out at 12:00 PM.
- Contact the Darby-Sula Ranger District 1 week before your stay for the key code and conditions.
Safety & rules
- Pack out all garbage and food; bring garbage bags.
- Be aware of bear, water, and weather safety before booking.
Wildlife & food storage
- Use certified weed-free hay for stock.
Vehicles & parking
- Park only on main roads; do not travel off-road.
- In winter (Oct-April), park at the gates and walk 600 ft to the cabin; consider bringing sleds.
Fires & fuel
- Use firewood only in the woodstove.
- Do not move firewood; obtain it locally to prevent pests.

- Bring your own cleaning supplies; some are provided.
