Savenac Cookhouse provides cooking and eating accommodations for large groups staying at the Savenac Historic Tree Nursery in the Lolo National Forest of Montana. The area is filled with history and was once the site of the U.S. Forest Service's largest and most beautiful nurseries in the West.
The cookhouse can seat up to 30 people and offers somewhat modern facilities, as well as access to a variety of recreational opportunities. In addition, the cookhouse can sleep up to 9 people downstairs.

Savenac Cookhouse offers a beautiful setting for gatherings and holidays, making it an enjoyable place to stay. While the accommodations are nice, some improvements are needed, such as cleaning the fan filters and enhancing staff hospitality. Overall, guests appreciated the lovely grounds and had a great time during their visits.
Clean and comfy--this was a great place for our Carroll College Campus Ministry leadership retreat with nearly 30 of us there. The cookhouse had everything we needed to feed the crowd, and we really enjoyed the lovely grounds for walking around and quiet time. The groundskeeping staff was very hospitable and helpful as well while we there! Wish we could have had a campfire, but we'll have to catch a time out of wildfire season next visit!
The accommodations were nice enough however they need to clean the fans filters as it blows so much dust around we all left with sore throats. The groundskeepers were very unwelcoming and on our case for every little thing from parking when we were just unloading to, walking on the grass. It is a public area but they didn’t want anyone to use it. They also kept complaining about how much work they had to do although we only saw them over water the grass.
The cookhouse was perfect for our family. We were able to make a meal, play games and explore outside and go on walks around the property. It was beautiful.

We love the cookhouse! Boy Scout Troop 1909 of Missoula has visited annually the cookhouse for many years as a great weekend ski trip basecamp. We hope to continue for many more years come!
