I have stayed in many of these cabins before, and I enjoy them.
When I walked into this cabin it was a disaster spaghetti sauce was all over everything along with hamburger noodles there were 3 loads of dishes I had to wash since there is no water at theses cabins ,I had to melt the snow to be able to wash them all ,not a simple task for 12 plates 4 pans and several other dishes so about 3 big loads of dishes. Before I could wash the dishes I had to clean the sink, counter, wall and wash bins off, sauce was every where
So when I went to get the wood to start the fire, so I could melt the snow to clean there mess up ,the people before us also threw whole logs in the box and did not chop one
So had to chop wood before I could even lite afire to melt the snow to clean there mess up
So disappointed in the people the decided to leave this mess for others to clean up especially now that the rent on the cabins have went up in price if I knew who they were they would be banned from renting the cabin again
Thank you

This is a great little cabin and beautiful location in the Big Belt Mtns. This was a nice way to unplug, get away and enjoy nature.

From White Sulphur Springs, travel west on Highway 360 for 1.6 miles. At this point, make a sharp curve to the right off the highway. There is a Forest Service sign at this junction that reads: Gipsy Lake 14, Townsend 44. Go straight onto the gravel road for 6.5 miles. At 6.5 miles, the gravel road forks at the entrance to a ranch. Stay to the right. As you drive the next 7.5 miles to the Forest boundary, the road will become more primitive. Within a quarter of a mile of the Forest boundary, a sign for Thompson Station will direct you to the right onto Forest Road #383. Take Forest Road #383 for 0.6 miles to a sign that will direct you to the left, and to a gate to the station.
Access to the cabin during the summer months is good and can be reached by driving through White Sulphur Springs or from the west over Duck Creek Pass.
The Forest Service does not provide snow removal to the cabin. During winter, snow closes the road and access is maintained to within about 8 miles of the cabin on the east side. Please use parking that is identified and do not block private land access. Access to the cabin is by snowshoes, cross-country skis, or snowmobile. Generally, the road will open around the first week in June.
Thompson Guard Station is accessible via Highway 360, which is located approximately 1.6 miles from White Sulphur Springs. No other major roads are mentioned within a reasonable distance.
