What Guests Are Saying
The Bessey Recreation Complex is praised for its spacious and clean campsites, well-maintained facilities, and friendly staff. Many visitors enjoyed the beautiful hiking trails, fishing opportunities, and the overall serene environment, especially during weekdays when it was quieter. However, noise from nearby trains and ATVs can be disruptive, particularly on weekends, and some reviewers noted cleanliness issues in the showers and bathrooms. Overall, it's considered a hidden gem for campers seeking a rustic experience in the Nebraska Sandhills.

Sites were very unlevel. Noise from construction, train and road were crazy loud

We enjoy fishing in th pond, spending time splashing around in the river, exploring and hking to the fire tower. I am hoping that the tower is rebuilt soon.

Reasonably pretty park and some nice sites. Construction going on and it’s kind of a big mess. One lane road with traffic light to get in and out. Giving 3 stars because of the filthy shower building/bathrooms. Everyone but us driving noisy ATVs around. Between that and constant train whistles this is not the place if you want peace and quiet.

Location was nice with plenty of trees separating the location from other sites. The actual park and trails were disappointing due to all of the trees being destroyed by a forest fire.

Great location, clean, very reasonable, lots of outdoor activities,
Downside is the noisy ATV traffic on weekends. Also need more 50 amp sites

Campsites are well kept. Bathrooms were reasonably clean and easy to locate. Popular with ORV users who don't always abide by quiet hours regulations for no ORV use so can be noisy even past midnight.

Your camp hosts are amazing. We loved our camp site. Trails were fun. Adding more 50 amp hookups should be priority.

Trails need to be one way as it is dangerous having 2 way traffic in many spots. We had 2 incidents while visiting. Place has potential to be safe and great simply needs designated trail directions.
