Trails West YMCA Camp

We rented the cabins. Very clean and spacious. Each includes a kitchenette, queen bed & 2 sets of bunk beds. There’s a shower, sink & toilet - separated by doors so multiple people can get ready at the same time. Each set of 2 adjoining cabins share a common area.
There is a pool available for rent as well as a reception area. A campfire area is also included. Only downside, the rooms had a serious ant problem. The entire tiled area had ants everywhere (see photo).

We stayed for one night on a Sunday in May and had the place entirely to ourselves. The online reservation process was simple to use. There are trains that run through the night on the other side of the river, but, fortunately, they don’t sound their horn. The code for the bathrooms is provided once you make a reservation. I don’t think you could find a better campsite for a better price.

The location is great. The venue is great. The buildings and cabins are great. The view is spectacular. However, my experience was AWFUL!! I got engaged on Feb 25, 2023, booked the venue on March 8, 2023, for my wedding (date Sept 28, 2024) so about a year and half early. Come June 2024 I was out shopping and through conversation with another lady, I find out they double booked the venue for a second wedding on the same day. Immediately I contacted them and they asked for a day to figure it out. The next day, I get a call saying they weren’t going to honor my contract and it would be best to find a different location to get married at or pick a different date and they could offer me a discount. They wouldn’t give me any reasoning besides that the other bride knew basically every detail of her wedding and I did not. (I’m not that kind of person and I hired people to do all that for me). I had to go to the YMCA and file a complaint (aka throw a huge fit). I had to send them my signed (and paid) contract. I did win the battle and I did get to have my wedding out there, but come wedding week I ran into more problems. It was like they were trying to ruin my day after this point. We had to buy cabins for Friday night so we could get ready in the cabins on Saturday, even though we had booked all the cabins for Saturday and when I initially booked they said I could have the cabins at 8 am Saturday morning (as long as no one else rented them, well no one else had rented them Friday, but I still had to pay for cabins for both nights in order to get ready there the day of. No one was around the day of the wedding. I never once received any sort of apology, the employees were so rude whenever I talked to them.
Granted the day came and it was beautiful and perfect, just be careful if you’re going to book here. I recommend double checking every few months to make sure this won’t happen to you! (As I know I’m not the only one who has had this problem with them out there!)

I also want to note that I am thankful to the YMCA board who made it right and honored my contract. Also the guy who I booked with is no longer out there. Just be careful and double check constantly

View is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL FOR A WEDDING! Absolutely beautiful!
But thats not all, Cabins are lots of room and have everything needed. Big shower too lol.
I heard about booking problems but our party didn’t have any issues.

My family of 5 needed a place to stay for several days, and this was a perfect fit for us. There is tons of space to spread out and not feel cramped like a hotel often feels.
