This is a very clean and well-designed campground. It has nice camp spot amenities and the restrooms are very clean. It is an easy drive from Ely, and only an hour from GB Natl Park.

Spent two nights at Ward Mountain, (Murry Summit), and wished it had been more. Site was clean and level, there was a place to park our travel trailer and a second seperate pad for a tent. Bathroom facilities were clean and well maintained despite being pit toilets. I could have easily spent a week just wandering and biking around the immediate area. Hands down, one of the nicest National Forest campgrounds we have ever stayed at.

I stay here multiple times per year. Mostly quiet, and recently the water has been turned back on after being off for several years. Vault toilets have always been spotless.

We always enjoy our stays at Ward Mountain Campground. Usually we stay twice a year while traveling to visit family and it is easy to make reservations, the campsites are nicely organized, the facility is clean and usually quiet!

Close to the town of Ely (5 miles), you still feel distant after driving through the beautiful canyon to get to the camping area. We were greeted for 2 mornings out of 5, by the park officer. He informed us that the water is off due to the possible freezes, which there were. Although there were concrete pads where dumpsters would sit, there were none. At least while we were there, there were no dumpsters. The campsites are well equipped with very well made bbq pits and fire pits. Many of them had 2 picnic tables, but no covers at any. There are pit toilets which seem to be reasonably maintained. We were waiting for an overnight package through USPS which never arrived. It’s the only reason we stayed 5 days. It’s a wooded campsite which works negatively to block the view of the snow capped mountains. During our stay, perhaps only 2 other campsites were occupied. The sites are pretty close together, but the mountain desert shrubs help separate you. I can tell they’ve invested a lot of money on thi camping area. They have a huge group camping area with a covered pavilion, horseshoe area, and a volleyball area. All in all, with my senior discount, nobody can complain about $7 a night. It seems most that come here, at least during our stay, are stopovers looking for a one night rest.

Gorgeous location; camps are spaced nicely from each other with trees in between for a feeling of privacy. It's the perfect place to spend the night after a day at Great Basin. I will definitely camp here again, even though someone stole the spot I reserved ( still found a free spot).
