The campground is quiet and beautiful with adequate sites for a small 18 foot long trailer and truck. The only problem was someone was illegally camping in our spot when we arrived and they were gone from the campground. There was no campground host available at 4pm on a Friday. We tried to call the emergency number on the office door, but we got continuous phone trees and no one answered. I finally called the non emergency number for the police and they located the Ranger. The Ranger came and said he would call the people who were squatting on our property by looking up their number on the license plate of the car parked there in our space.
All of this hubbub took about 4 hours to resolve. We were exhausted from an 8 hour drive from our previous location. When the folks finally returned with the sheriff it was 10 at night.
There had been a reserved sign on the post with my initials in plain sight but the squatters claimed that they “thought the site was open for another night. The sheriff or Ranger said that they were “responsible climbers “ and he was not going to ticket them. We never received an apology from them.
My biggest complaint is that there was no camp host and we had to deal with a lot of anxiety until late at night as to when we could settle into our site. We are older seniors and we were extremely tired. This experience really made our experience there less appealing.

This campground has well-appointed sites and clean restrooms. We biked the 13-mile Scenic Drive, and it was a beautiful way to experience the canyon. The Visitor Center is terrific!

Nice, pretty quiet campground and the closest to Red Rock Park. A sun shelter is a must and even then the couple of hours before sunset and after sunrise (when the shelter doesn’t help) can feel hot on warmer days. Also, there is no escaping the wind when it blows (which is pretty often).
One thing that took us by surprise was that for the first three days there was no toilet paper in the bathrooms… pretty lame. The first time that’s ever happened to me but still lame.
