We had a great experience. The area was all ready for us in that the garbage cans were all empty, the grill area clear of old ash, the water was turned on (there is a dedicated faucet for the picnic areas), and the lower bathrooms were unlocked, clean, and ready for us first thing in the morning. It was great having a parking area separate from the visitor center. We had the area for the full day and there was some confusion in what appeared to be auto generated confirming emails the week of the event as to what time we had to clear out, but Jennifer was able to clarify that issue when she personally followed up with us the week of the event to see if we had any questions. Early on we had some questions about what was and what was not allowed in the picnic area and Kassidy was really helpful in getting us the information we needed. Roger was also responsive to our questions.

I hosted a big birthday party for my husband's 60th at the group picnic site and everything was fantastic. The ranger came to check us on and let us know the rules and details about exiting if the party went past the gate close time. The space was perfect and beautiful.

The WORST experience / level of unprofessionalism I’ve ever had to endure. I Reserved a picnic area for my gender reveal MONTHS in advance for the FULL DAY.
Majority of Family and I live out of state with the exception of some that are Vegas residents. Months went by and numerous confirmations were sent confirming my reservation. Since we were commuting from far many phone calls were made to the visitor center CONFIRMING our full day sole picnic area we specifically had chosen because it had sentimental meaning to us. Lodging and flights were booked for all. Upon arriving to Nevada the day PRIOR to my event; the.DAY. PRIOR. I receive the 1st, of soon to be MANY phone calls following from the ranger stating they “don’t know how it happened, but we double booked your reservation with another big group.”
I emphasized how I had booked far in advance as well as notes were left on the reservation by THEIR staff confirming the picnic site was solely to be reserved for us for the entire day. His response verbatim , “well … I don’t know what I’m supposed to say or do with the other group…” As if I was supposed to solve THEIR MISTAKE. Instead of honoring their policy with my reservation I continued, at that point to be harassed by the same and different rangers
Going back and forth on how they can “move me/ upgrade me “ to another area FURTHER up the mountain.

Everything was great couldn't ask for better weather. Couldn't keep the yellow jackets from being PITA, but no one got stung. otherwise, everyone had a good time, and I would tell everyone to try it out. We will see you next year!
