For the walk-in tent sites- Double the average cost for a federal campsite with about 1/4 of the space of an average tent site. Since there are so many people packed into the space, the campground was very loud. People constantly walking through our site since the pathways are not clear. Bathrooms were not particularly clean but that is probably because so many people use them rather than never checked. We were told no charcoal fires when we checked in but we did have grills at our site so could use charcoal in the grills. This restriction was not outlined in either the Rec.gov page or the Zephyr resort page. The picnic tables have been moved around so much, we didn’t have a picnic table at one of the sites we had reserved. The tent spots at the walk in tent sites are relatively large but don’t expect to put a second tent on the site. We will not stay at this campground again if at all possible.

Zephyr Cove and the shoreline just north is a wonderful place to explore and swim. It is one of the few public place on the lake where you can swim solo and immerse yourself in this rare and beautiful environment. We camped in one of the walk-in sites at the top of the hill. The campground has everything you need, but... campsites are smaller than at other campgrounds on the lake, and this one is particularly noisy. We enjoyed our time there but prefer to camp where there are so many other humans close by.

Zephyr Cove Campground is a very poorly managed site. It pains me to write this review as I've been camping here since the first campsites were along the road on HWY 50 where the RV sites are now located back in the 90's. Over the years the camp sites have gotten squeezed together to the point where you are not camping out in the woods to enjoy cooking over a fire or bbq, separated from others, instead you're in a tent community where your tent is no further than 5 to 20 ft from the next 5 to 10 tents.
This last trip we did in July 2026, we counted 48 people within view of about 50 ft from sitting at our table. One camp within 7 ft of us had 20 people in 2 large tents, all whom talked and laughed loudly until 12:30 am. I'm all for having a good time with family and friends, but if Zephyr cove is going to pack you in side by side, there needs to be enforcement on noise, fires, parties and camp group sizes. The very next day another group of young boys set up their one site with 4 tents, and 18 people. They proceeded to party until 5:30 in the morning with all neighbors complaining multiple times and asking to put their fire out, bring the noise down and let their babies sleep. They didn't care nor listen and proceeded to burn the fence posts when they ran out of fire wood. Zephyr cove resort was called numerous times but no one to address the problem was available. The sheriff was also called but did not come out. The surrounding 8 campsites all got together and complained because there were young children around, a sever fire risk when the drunk boys threw the burning fence post into the bushes and at the end of it all, we were told that security was notified. Nothing happened. It really ruins the experience for anyone
The bathroom facilities were unusable. One bathroom was completely filled and plugged up with feces, with water overflowing on the ground, for 2+ days. The second bathroom was out of soap and toilet paper. Multiple other bathrooms were overflowing from the toilets with personal hygiene products clogged up.
TL;DR; You aren't camping here. you're sleeping in a tent next to 30-60+ people. Facilities are not maintained and there is no enforcement of noise, safety and general camp etiquette.

Very unpleasant stay. The sites are SO tight, we could not really fit the trailer (never mind our truck). Luckily our neighbor was kind enough to allow our slide and stairs to be on their site. The site was approximately 5 ft away from the MAIN STREET, so traffic was awful and loud all day and night. By 6:00am trucks were buzzing down the street. No quiet or privacy at all. Also, the bathrooms were not very nice, and when we went to do laundry there was a note on the door that the laundry machines were not working. After a couple days we had to go to the laundry-mat in town, as we were there for several days and planned to do our laundry then. ZERO wifi and tv stations...I mean your in the middle of a bustling area, and we paid $$$ for these sites
We walked around and sites in the back seemed ok - but all us folks in front were really unhappy and they didn't seem to care. Would never stay here again.

The location is great but it would be excellent if they let us know ahead of time that we are up the hill.

Excellent location relative to the lake. Many of the tent sites are comically slanted. Site information says there is at least one flat spot for a tent and that is just not the case. There are good tent sites but ymmv. Facilities are good relative to the level of use. Staff were friendly and organized.

Trying to get a reservation thru the on-line process is insanely impossible. A person that is able to make adjustments easily and on site is truly required.
The area I was in seemed to have under gone transformation; there weren't quite as many sites in the area as there were 10 yrs ago - last I parked in that site. ITS JAMMED IN TIGHT!
I didn't have a good experience.

The walk-in campsites are up a very steep hill. Bring a wagon to haul your stuff. It looked pretty challenging for the families with small children. Pros: flushing toilets and showers, quiet campsite especially for how packed it is.

Great campground, close to the beach, clean bathrooms. We really enjoyed our stay. Some sites were very sloped, but thankfully ours was pretty level. We would come again!

Site# 158, premium pull through.
This is our 2nd time at this campground.
Pros: *Campground location is awesome!! Pack your wagon and walk across the street to the beach.
*Price per night is affordable
Cons: *Movement - a ton of people were moving campsites constantly! We camped for 7 nights and on one side had 4 different groups move in, other side 3. People arrive days early and move site to site before settling in.
*Bathrooms were not kept up at all.
Be aware sites are hard to get into due to the trees so close together. We had previously marked the map so we knew where we could get in.
At check-in, I asked the kid how to get to our campsite and he just shrugged and said ‘I don’t know’. We watched others driving the wrong way on roads and pulling through empty sites to get parked.
PLEASE give out written rules. Our campsite became a walk through for others. We had the path literally on the other side our trailer.
We will return due to the location, but will be more selective on the site. Pull throughs are loud/busy.
