This is the second time we stayed here with excursion trailer conversion and had a very pleasant stay. My husband and I are in our 60's and enjoyed the quietness of the campground, they also have a laundry room so we used that twice & it was reasonably priced. We will definitely be staying here again possibly in the fall.

A campground where you can enjoy hearing the owls hoot at night and the ducks quack during the day. If you're looking for a Rustic campground to relax and yet have the ability to do all those camping things. This is the place. That is why I am a seasonal and updating this post. After reading some reviews, it looks to me lately, that people are forgetting that this is a "Rustic" campground and are expecting modern day conveniences. I come here with my family to get away from all that stuff. You should too. The only thing I carry is a cell phone and tablet which work great if I need them.
Somethings to consider when staying at Ferndale Acres.
It's Not a resort. This is a campground that has been around a longtime and has stood the test of time. It's a Rustic campground. So... when it rains, enjoy the mud and excess water around. Be a kid and have some fun. When the sun is out, go to the pool and play some cornhole. ;-)
Don't expect today's modern WIFI etc.. There is some WIFI around the main office though. With today's technology, there is no reason why you can't add all that stuff to your camper yourself. This way technology never leaves your camper no matter where you're parked.
Amenities like showers, bathrooms and laundry are all available. Yes! they are dated as this is an older campground. but... I have to give them credit, they are clean and well taken care of. Mine all work great in my camper. Does yours?
Pool is fun and the activities are great. Something to do every weekend.
Store has just enough and if you need something the store doesn't have, within twenty minutes or less you are at Market Basket. There is even a sub shop that delivers to the campground. Sweet!!!
Back to the comments. Yes! we all know that it is easy enough to pick apart anything in the world today. We all understand that anything we use, campgrounds, restaurants, big box stores, AMAZON (*chuckles*) and even the internet can disappoint us at times. So when you read negative comments about anything out there, please try to look at the whole picture. As the old saying goes, Someone's trash is another person's treasure.
So in conclusion, try it... if you don't like it. That's okay. NH and all the other states have many campgrounds to explore. Be safe, be smart and enjoy life.
Later.....

Starting with the positive, the owners are very kind and seem like good people. The monthly price point included electric and wasn’t too bad either. That’s about where the highlights stop unfortunately.
My family stayed for a month in June and our overall experience is that the campground has definitely seen better days. It does seem like they are slowly slowly making improvements but they have a mountain of improvements still needed.
1- The road into the campground. Yes it rained more than average for the month of June. However based on previous reviews it looks like they encountered rainy months before and had the road conditions brought to their attention already. So why they haven’t invested into some preventative measures with the road yet is beyond me…. I’m talking crawling down the mile long entrance praying you don’t damage your suspension bad. As well as when just coming and going for the month being an event where pot holes out numbered drivable ground!
2- The site we were on ended up becoming badly washed out with lots of ruts and essentially felt like we lived in a bog for a month. Some crushed stone would do wonders as well as learning how the water flows on your campground to then create barriers and direct the water. Some of the other sites we saw were just a bad… We were at site 107 and the ones next to us 108 and 109 were basically under water at times! With 109 not being able to use the fire pit due to the the puddle it sat in even after the rain stopped.
3- The playground is very run down, out dated waiting for a kid to get hurt on… nothing more to say on that… very disappointing.
4- The bathrooms, cobwebs and dingy. No lights in stall either. Need to be updated
5- The water smelt horrid… We ended up in a month going thru 2 filters while there and then had to replace them again when we got to our next location. I’m talking 3 stage water filters….
6- The electric posts were put in very close to the ground. Our surge protector had to lay on the ground in the mud and was barely able to be connected but to how low the posts are.
7- slugs everywhere… It seems like they’re going for a “rustic” feel and trying to maintain keep some privacy between the sites back to backs… unfortunately it’s all just a lot of dead brush and piles upon piles of pine needles that are staying soaked creating a whole ecosystem of slugs..
8- The “beach” swimming area. The water did not look or smell safe to be in. Even with all the rain the beach area water was not moving and had this film on top. Would not touch.
We did not visit the pool, or game room. Overall we wouldn’t want to revisit them. Even tho the owners are nice that only goes so far. Maybe if they invested into the campground some. But as it stands no.
EDIT: Based on the owners comment back- I grew up and maintained a class 6 road for over 10 years and am aware what rain does to roads as well as aware of how to properly maintain them. It all starts with taking measures before hand… So, as for knowledge before hand that comment is not needed :)
Your water does smell we tested it from the tap direct as well as at our new spot it doesn’t have the same smells.
Have a great one.
DO NOT RECOMMEND

Family owed and operated. Friendly and welcoming. Very happy to have gotten a seasonal site. It's brand new and almost ready for our camper!
