Wonderful campground with a gorgeous view of Abiquiu Lake and Cerro Pedernal. My only complaint, as in many campgrounds these days, the full bathroom facilities always seem to be near where the RVs are hooked up and the tent campers get the old vault toilets. Kind of ironic. (Yes, we are still tent camping in our 70's!!)
Perfect place to stay if you love Georgia O'Keeffe. You see the environment which inspired her. Easy access to Ghost Ranch and her home and studio. The Sierra Negra Cafe has delicious food at a reasonable price. (Great for vegetarians.)
So glad we spent a few days exploring this area.

The campground is very well maintained and totally safe. I camp alone, and the hosts Cindy and Al are just awesome people! Toilets are clean, dogs are on leashes, and they drive around the campground several times a day to make sure everyone is happy! The views of the lake are amazing, and the evenings are quiet and beautiful. They even have lectures on Saturday night by local park rangers! Last night it was about local geology and dinosaurs. I’ve stayed there twice, and plan to come again!

There's not much access to the lake for fishing.
Mostly the boat ramp area and a few steep areas along the cliffs. Fishing near the Rio Chama River was pleasant.

We just camped in Abiquiu because our friends, Harry and Venche, used to host at this cg. and they now live in Abiquiu and so we visited with them and also went into Sante Fe, which is only a hour or so away. Went shopping and rode the Rail Runner on Wed. to Alb. and back. This is such a quiet cg and a very relaxing place to be. The only thing I might want would be to have Wifi while there. Other than that, we will go back again and again. It's been 23 years that we have been going there. My husband passed away 2 yrs and 8 mos. ago, but I got a smaller camper and keeping up the tradition. My handicapped daughter, 54, is always with me and she loves camping. Lucy King

The best cared for campground anywhere! Pleasant to stay here as the rules are enforced, making the experience positive for all. Great “home base” for exploring the surrounding area.

Wonderful place, beautiful and staff is great, Al, Cindy, Kevin and Sara do exceptional job and all the Rangers and Law Enforcement, excellent job. I feel real safe when I’m there and can’t forget cleaning, restroom and trash pickup, maintenance all involved in keeping this place functional
