Great place for camping and doing lake things. The weather did interfere with high winds so no campfires and we needed to leave early because the wind made doing anything impossible. I would like to go back when the weather is better.

Great area. Great camp hosts. Lots to do. Wind can get pretty nasty though.

Intended to stay 4 nights, stayed 5. Park is extremely well laid out and facilities immaculate. We stayed in site 2 (electric), site 25 (non-electric) and site 9 (electric). All sites have fire pits and charcoal bbqs. Potable water at each site in the upper loop snd a centrally located spigot in the lower loop. We found the upper loop especially nice. It featured generous sites separated by juniper and other native plants. The lower loop is a little more congested. Getting our 41’ fifth wheel into site 25 was a little challenging as the fences separating this site from the adjacent ones resulted in a quite narrow back-in opening. Once in, it was very nice although less private than the upper loop sites. None of the sites offered shade other than over the provided picnic tables. We appreciated the hospitality of the hosts and helpful information on other camping areas on our planned route. They also permitted us to move from 25 into 9 a day early when a cancellation meant it was open. (It was in the 90s and the electric service in 9 was immensely welcome!). The lake was quite low due to persistent drought, and the swimming beach was a longer walk downhill than intended. Our old dog didn’t want to venture down the ramp so we didn’t get any closer than to look at it. The boat ramp and mooring slips were in use. We didn’t not speak to any anglers to find out if the fishing was good. It gets quite windy (m among our awning was in!) and tenters were experiencing some flapping issues. We were told this is common, as was a brief thunderstorm one night.
We would be happy to break our trip st Abiquiu again in the future.

Water spigot didn't work at the time but it was a beautiful campsite with plenty of room. Good access to the water as well.

The lake was incredible. Super clean and temp was perfectly refreshing in the heat. The facility is really clean. Litter free, clean restrooms, awesome camp hosts. So grateful for this site.
