Firstly, the “Handicapped accessible” space was not. Extremely unlevel and difficult to get around.
Secondly, to not have water on site especially on a holiday weekend is mismanagement at its finest.
This campground desperately needs upgrades

Get a pass to drive into the Valles Caldera, they’re on now $2 per day and they limit the cars going in, so best to do n advance on line. Some wonderful trails and parking at the trail heads.

Running water was needed for the washing of hands, pets, and to put out camp fires for this fire season.

The campground was beautiful as always. However there was no water at the site. We only learned about this on arrival on opening day. There was nothing posted on the Website until Saturday May 19. This could have easily been posted before opening day. We had to leave the campground and drive to Los Alamos to purchase water. The Host was very nice and told us the State of New Mexico had not approved water quality.

Always a great spot to camp BUT it sure needs upgrades. This weekend, no water anywhere in the campground and major pot holes all through the campground. I know there are issues with personnel and costs but dang come on, how long can we use these excuses. Fix them please!
