Great location! Very peaceful and the bathrooms were very clean when we first arrived. Appreciate the effort the facility staff do to keep the locations safe and enjoyable for all.

Beautiful park in an ideal location just outside of Asheville. The Glamping site was great, the tent kept us bone-dry through a couple of heavy thunderstorms in the night.

The park is beautiful and the staff were very informative and welcoming!
Beware of some spooky things mixed with the magical beauty, spiders, snake warnings, ya know, the forest! The glamping set up was great!

We are a camping family. We love setting up our tent and gear and sleeping in the fresh air. This time, on a whim, we booked one of the glamping yurts for a last-minute quick weekend trip. It was wonderful! Not having to worry about setting up in the fading daylight was a stress relief, but the icing on the cake was not having to break down a soggy tent the morning after a heavy downpour. We won't be giving up camping with our own gear, but we will be giving ourselves permission to glamp every once in awhile.

My sister and I had a wonderful overnight stay in Glamping Tent 77 !
We had friendly gentlemen at check in and check-out. The tent was very sturdy and clean. and we were impressed with the high-quality towels and professionally-laundered bed sheets. The toilets and showers building was a few steps away and very clean. The general ambience of the campground was peaceful and secure.
A pleasant experience and we look forward to coming back for a longer stay. Thanks!

This was my first time staying at Lake Powhatan campground. I am an avid tent/hammock camper, but chose the glamping this time for less packing and prep.
WHAT I LIKED:
-Very spacious tent tall enough to stand and walk around in. Durable with great ventilation.
-Better than expected bed linens and towels
-Bear box provided at each campsite to store coolers, food, trash and other scented items.
-Good water pressure and temp in showers
-Very friendly gate staff
-Ice and firewood available for purchase on site.
-Quiet hours enforced
-Convenient to Asheville
-Great option for families with young children, or folks new to outdoor experiences
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:
-The battery for the provided fans/lights will accommodate charging phones and the like, but not small appliances like hair dryers and coffeemakers.
- The bathhouse does not have electrical outlets
- If you want to cook or heat water, you need to have an non-electrical way to do that (backpacking stove/propane camp stove/campfire) or your own power source (see rules on generators)
- There is no sink outside the bathhouse for washing pots or dishes. You will need to plan to heat your own water and wash them at a campsite washing station - ex. https://sites.google.com/view/outdoor-cooking-for-kids-famil/camp-dish-washing-methods
- At NC State Parks, the camp host usually stops over and says "howdy". That did not happen here, but their spot was clearly identified if you needed to touch base with them.
- Campsites are fairly close together.
Overall, I enjoyed it and plan to return in the fall. I think it's a fun alternative place to stay when visiting the Asheville area - less expensive and easier to park than most VRBO/AirBnBs, and it checks the box if you like some "in the woods" time like I do.

The tent was luxurious compared to what we would have brought, and it was so convenient to downtown Asheville. We had a wonderful experience protected from the cold. The bear box, fan, and cooler made for a full glamping experience.
