What Guests Are Saying
Lake Powhatan Glamping offers a wonderful experience with clean and comfortable accommodations, including well-maintained bathrooms and cozy tents that withstand inclement weather. Guests appreciate the beautiful park setting, helpful staff, and easy access to hiking trails and Asheville. While some minor issues were noted, such as thin blankets and occasional noise disturbances, the overall atmosphere is friendly and inviting, making it a highly recommended destination for relaxation and outdoor fun.

I have never been camping in my life, so thought glamping would be a good way to ease into it. Got to the site late, drove in through the gate, but there was no one there to check us in. Drove to our campsite in the pitch black darkness, felt slightly unsafe at that point, but made it to our tent. Tent was spacious and warm, unfortunately there were insects everywhere including on the walls of the tent and inside the pillowcases. It was difficult to see in the dark with just one small lamp provided, but unsettling enough that we didn’t want to sleep in the tent for fear that a beetle or spider would crawl on our faces. Understandably there will be insects as we are outdoors, but the pillowcases should have been zipped up. Ended up sleeping in the car and driving out the next morning. Also unfortunately we were not reimbursed for the second night we didn’t end up staying there. When I called, the staff member stated she saw our reservation and that the status said we hadn’t even checked in yet, but that’s because there was no one to check us in at that time. We drove inside ourselves through an unlocked gate, which now that I think about in hindsight, is completely unsafe and a little unprofessional. Glad I didn’t spend a second night there due to that. Huge disappointment overall for a trip we planned for months and wanted to experience camping for the first (and now last) time. There is also no wifi or cell phone service, so if there was an emergency or you need to reach the camp staff, good luck.

The rustic nature of these glamping sites was a welcome change from the standard hotels in the city. The drive time to the city was super short. The showers were very close to the glamping sites. The sounds of children and dogs laughing and playing in the road made me feel at home and super safe. My nearby neighbors were extremely friendly and the hosts were wonderful!
