Nice campsite on the river but the sites and drive are too small for bigger rigs (ours is 32’ and the driveway was very dicey). It rained the whole time and the campground is so shaded that it was hard to tell day from night.

The hosts were NOT friendly at all. Acted as if checking in was an interuption to THEIR schedule. Knowing this was my first time, they did not bother to tell me anything about where anything was, offered ZERO assistance with anything.
Visited Black Mountain Campground and I can say I will go there before I go back to Carolina Hemlock. To me they were rude and couldn't care less about our stay.
To make matters worse; we bought 5 bundles of wood from them and it was GREEN and would not burn. Totally unacceptable to be selling green wood.

This place is my favorite for car camping. The first time we've had riverside and the sould of the South Toe was wonderful. We had #2 and the space is big enough for an 6 person tent, but not much more. Close to the clean bathrooms and camp store. A trail to the river right beside our camp made our oldest happy to go hang out by the water. Hiked the Carolina Hemlock trail part way until too muddy, but still a nice walk in the woods. Love this campground!

Great location! The campsites were clean and the leaves had been blown back. Firepits were clean of debris. Bathrooms and showers were well maintained and stocked. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back again!
