Cape Point Campground is a well-maintained and peaceful destination, offering clean facilities and quick beach access, making it ideal for fishing and outdoor activities. Many visitors appreciate the quiet atmosphere, spacious sites, and the presence of wildlife, such as deer and rabbits. Lovely place - totally wide open with only a few RVers when we visited in early Nov.
Website should make it easier to change sites after arriving -we wanted maximum sun and on arriving noticed better open sites. And on last night, we had someone next to us-even though park was only 5% full.

Early November (2023) the camp is close to deserted. Pick your spot.
Everywhere is somewhat wet.
The place is not a swamp, but when you leave the pavement, it's close.
We enjoyed the seclusion... and it's close to an iconic lighthouse!

We had a great night at this campground, especially for this price ! And in November we booked online when we arrived so it was easy to plan. It would have been nice to indicate that the showers are cold. It was not that nice in November :)

We had a great time at the campground, it was clean and very well maintained. Being cold and rainy, it would have been more fun if the showers had hot water (instant on or even passive solar), but the cold water got me energized in the evening I guess, haha.

Nice quiet place to stay, restrooms were very clean! If you are looking to take a shower the water is cold. In off season wait to reserve your spot, its best to look at the dryness of the different sites then reserve the one suitable. Enjoyed the nearby beach! The Hatteras Light House flash can be quite bright at night depending on which site you choose. Don't forget your mosquito spray. Good experience!

Pick your site carefully when rain is in the forecast. Many sites get flooded. Otherwise it is a wonderful place to camp - not nearly as busy as Oregon Inlet.
My only complaint is the constant traffic from fishermen in very load pickups who visit the campground bathrooms at all hours. They rev their trucks, talk loud, and blast their music. Not what a camper wants to hear at 4am.
How about signage reminding them of campground quiet hours, or some law enforcement at night?

The campsite I chose was completely water logged. I am aware that this campground is a very low lying area. I was going to just move to another campsite but was unable to change my campsite online. There was barely anyone at this campground, so it shouldn't have been a problem. But the website absolutely SUCKS to navigate, and I was unable to switch campsites so I ultimately ended up sleeping in my car. I have stayed here a couple times, but I will avoid staying here again unless there is nothing else available. There also was no hot water in the shower. I don't know if there was supposed to be hot water, but it wasn't on and I don't know who is going to take an outdoor shower in 55-60 degree weather without hot water.
