The campground was mostly empty. Off season, but also because the light house is still being renovated. Great location. Love walking the beach and seeing the protected sea turtle nests.

Love this place! The stars are amazing & I love how it’s so close to Buxton for any needs, but closer to the beach than the highway so you can’t hear anything but waves. Clean bathrooms & roomy dumpsters. I’m never there during the day but if you’re going to be I’d recommend a tailgate tent in addition to your camping tent for some shade. Have a great time!

Great campsite in Buxton, NC! Cape Point offers a calm, peaceful vibe with clean restrooms and well-kept grounds. The 4x4 beach access right from camp is super convenient for fishing or relaxing by the ocean. Park rangers patrol regularly, keeping the area safe and quiet at night. Highly recommended!

G 008 Wonderful sight right next to the bathrooms and showers, quiet and not very busy. It's definitely a lot more open then Frisco campground. Would definitely stay here again.

We have been staying at Cape Point for at least 25 years. It’s extremely quiet there now.
Grounds were kept up nice and park rangers were friendly. We will return again next year

When we were there in early fall, the campground was nearly empty. Unfortunately the neigthbors that we did have did not observe simple rules.
The first night, our neighbors 2 doors down ran their generator all night long. Ignoring posted rules about quiet hours. 120p - 6a. I saw them smoking a cigarette at 5am and approached them. They seemed to think it was ok to ignore the rule because they were hot and had to run the generator for AC. This campground has no electric or water hook ups. This is plainly stated in campground details.
The next night, the only other neighbor we had all week was playing music quite loud at 830p. I asked them to turn it down a little bit. His response was "Its not quiet hours, I can play music as loud as I want". He completely stiff armed my simple request to just turn it down just a little.
The rest of the week as awesome. Hardly anyone in the entire campground. Very peaceful. Incredible star gazing. Bathrooms and showers were very nice and well maintained. I was amazed at how vacant the campground was. We were there the week between school opening and Labor Day. Maybe that's the reason for so few people. Incredible access to the beach and cape point. Less than 5 min away. Perfect if u like the beach or fishing.
Overall, we had a great time. Unfortunately, some people are just rude and disrespectful. Just like everywhere else.
A little bit more of a NPS ranger presence would have been welcomed. We didn't see any staff other than maintenance or staff posting reservations on campsite posts.
I think the poiicy of a "Reservation only" campsite booking policy is awesome. U just make a site reservation online and when u arrive u just go to your site. No check in, no nothing. Super easy. No waiting for anything.
Overall we had a fantastic time and would recommend this campsite. Just remember there are no hook ups for campers.
Just be nice and play by the rules so everyone else is happy. Its not that hard.

This campground is one I turn to again and again. I usually stay in section A so I have easy access to the beach for sunrise. The restroom is well lit and easy to get to in the dark and centrally located to the first drive of A sites.

The campground was great!! Our tent flooded a little at night during the thunderstorm but we knew that could happen! The bugs weren’t too bad and the walk to the beach from our campsite was about 10 minutes!! The showers and bathrooms and nicely kept! Would definitely recommend for a weekend away!
