About Cedar Point Campground

Cedar Point Campground and Recreation Area is located in eastern North Carolina at the junction of the White Oak River and the Bogue Sound, immediately adjacent to the Swansboro Inlet. It is within 1 mi of full service shopping, and within 2 mi of NC's Crystal Coast and the barrier island beach community of Bogue Banks. The campground is extremely busy and reservations are recommended but must be made 3 days in advance. Of the 36 campsites, 4 are considered first-come, first served campsites that cannot be reserved or held, so a person must physically be there with their camping equipment to purchase the campsite. Cedar Point campground has the option to use Scan & Pay system, but by the rules of recreation.gov it may only be used for first-come, first served sites. Please make sure to contact a campground host to ensure availability before paying for any campsite. Failure to check with the campground host for availability may result in the loss of your camping fee.

Nice campground close to the island. Plenty of shade. Feel for the host, she needs a 2nd host for it to be properly maintained, way to much for 1 person. Showers needs maintenance and more regular cleaning. Should have water at the sites.

My wife and I have camped there during the first week of May with some family and friends ( a group of about a dozen) for several years. We kayak and bike in the area, eat out for seafood and walk on the beach.
The setting of the campground is great, spacious sites and peaceful. We love going there. Our biggest concern and complaint is the condition of the restroom/showers. They should be cleaned more thoroughly and some repairs and improvements are greatly needed. Please have someone spend a little time and money to make the building and facilities look better. I would take that much. ( two examples would be replacing the rusty screens on the shower doors and use a pressure washer and disinfectant every now and then)
Thank you if something can be done. Take pride in have a better facility.

Bath house unattended first 5 days of stay
Grass hadn't been cut for a while
When grass did get cut it was by someone that knows nothing about keeping grass clippings off campsites and drives
Camp host very inattentive to needs of campground said couldn't get needed funds for upkeep

Cedar Point Campground is absolutely the best campground near the coast of NC. It is very clean and quiet. The bathhouses are clean. The hosts are available if needed.

We arrived on a Sunday evening around 7 PM - to find our site occupied by vehicles of a large crowd of people gathering on the site next to us. We had to ask for these vehicles to be moved before we could occupy the site; and had to deal with more than 20 - 25 older adults who were gathered around OUR campsite's fire ring. When I asked about this to some of these individuals, I was told "There's more shade there." I reminded them that this fire ring was on MY campsite, and received insulting rants as a reply.

The next morning, these same people were gathered less than 15 ft from the back of our RV, and had multiple people walking right past our bedroom windows because that was the most convenient path to the bathhouse. Again, asking for consideration and respect for our privacy resulted in being told "We've come here as a group every year for a long time, so just deal with it."

I checked online for open sites, then walked the campground to check those out. Then approached the campground host and requested a move to another site away from this large group that was using our site as their gathering place. At first I was told that this was not allowed. I responded that either we would be allowed to move, or I would leave, request a refund, and post as many negative reviews as I could. I then received a begrudging approval to move. To have to deal with such insensitive and rude behavior ruined our trip. Add to that the repeatedly noted problem with no temperature control over the water in the showers and we pretty much decided we won't ever come back to this campground.
