We enjoyed the privacy afforded by the vegetation. We had to move from one site to another because we reserved last minute. Both up on the upper P loop had views. It was so nice! We found all three bakeries within a half hour. They were all really good, but the Orange Blossom was outstanding! The Apple Ugly lived up to all the rave reviews. Other than that we saw the lighthouses hiked the few trails, and walked on the beach. We stayed at 3 of the 4 National campgrounds (1 was flooded), and Frisco was by far our favorite.

Sites are fairly level and very private for the spacing. Amenities and services available are close by. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.

Thanks to Sandy and Amy the camp hosts and all the staff for making my stay a very relaxing experience. The grounds are always well maintained. the Frisco campgrounds is a beautiful place.

If Oregon Inlet can have hot showers why doesn't Frisco and Ocracoke? All Nation parks are great, but cold showers are not good. Need to have hot showers!!!

Overall the campground is nice and the restrooms were very clean but we were camping with our dogs and we’re unaware of all the goatheads and cactus everywhere. It should be written on the website for future bookings. We likely wound not have camped there if we had known ahead.

The campground location from the beach is great. Across from the entrance to the grounds is a gas station with a small grocery store that was very convienent for last minute items and ice. The site location (F5) was nice and quiet. Reasonably close to bathrooms. We were disappointed that the site was not maintained in anyway. (Knee high grass shoots matched with sand spurs) We spoke with the park ranger upon arrival about switching sites (we have small children). I was told that although there was the availability online, its a lot of work to switch sites in the computer system. I mention about our request in wanting to switch being the upkeep
The park ranger suggested I write a review with my suggestion about the site upkeep. Since we weren't able to switch sites, we spent sometime clearing a pad for our tents, around our picnic table and grill area. Not all site locations in the park are like this. If bringing an RV, I would have no problems with any sites. Every site seems to have enough parking space.

Great weather and clean campground. The terrain allows for a relatively private camping experience. Our space (P08) had a nice setting for the picnic table, beneath some cedars. If they had fire pits it would be perfect.

I followed the suggestion in another review to book a P site and was not disappointed! They just seen to be a little more private and pretty. Bathrooms were clean, it was quiet, so easy to get to the beach.

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00 - $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. (For an alternate route to NC-12 South, continue on I-95 North to Rocky Mount, NC. Take US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South). Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Frisco Campground is accessible via NC-12 South, which connects to US-158 East approximately 12 miles to the north. US-64 East also provides access from the west, connecting to NC-12 South at Nags Head.

Policies & Rules
General
- A reservation to camp is required. Same day reservations can be made based on availability.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad, large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Parking on the grass is prohibited.
- There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
- Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
- Most campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are limited sites with shade in the campground.
- The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
