Really great campground with interesting sites, nice amenities, and easy access to the beach. Bring bug spray though, the mosquitoes are thick.

Very clean and organized facility. My only comment is that a bird was stuck in the restroom and couldn't get out because it was confused by the skylight. I'm not sure what could be done to prevent this but hopefully it can be prevented somehow in the future.

As a tent camper, I’ve been camping here for years and have always loved it. Especially among the Hatteras campgrounds because it offers more privacy than the other sites. However, this time it was less than excellent due to the cleanliness of the showers (it was gross), and the fact that quiet hours were not enforced during our stay. I wanted to mention something to the hosts, but every time I went by their sites, they were “off duty” seemingly the entire length of our stay.

Super clean facilities. off the beaten path, not at all crowded. Had trouble getting ORV license, but that is a separate issue. Will definitely be back.

My girlfriend and I LOVED it there. We were cross the road from bathroom and shower, had a GREAT time there, and the distance to get to Frisco Beach was AWESOME! If you have 4 Wheels Drive, get a off beach permit and just drive from the campground to the beach. It was so much fun. Will be coming back!

Nice campground and semi private spots. My main comment is PLEASE install hot showers. Use as a solar exercise pilot/progressive innovation to write a grant, whatever.
Also install solar showers at Ocracoke campground.

We had a great site on the Outer loop and could hear the ocean at night. The bath house and rest rooms were extremely clean and yes I would stay there again

Recreation.gov is literally the most user friendly method I have ever used to book travel / camp plans. My favorite feature is the fact that they have linked a photo to each campsite! Of course how do you know which site to book online if you've never been there? You don't have to do a bunch of internet research or try to get a ranger on the phone during office hours. It was the easiest, most straightforward booking I have ever done. Everything worked exactly as stated and planned. Would recommend 10000%.

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00 - $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. (For an alternate route to NC-12 South, continue on I-95 North to Rocky Mount, NC. Take US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South). Frisco Campground is accessible via NC-12 South, which connects to US-158 East approximately 12 miles to the north. US-64 East also provides access from the west, connecting to NC-12 South at Nags Head.

Policies & Rules
General
- A reservation to camp is required. Same day reservations can be made based on availability.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad, large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Parking on the grass is prohibited.
- There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
- Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
- Most campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are limited sites with shade in the campground.
- The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
