Great campground all around. Some sites are better than others. Always somebody that wants to run their generator all day. For the most part, it's quiet and clean. Get a beach driving permit . It's a great destination.

Site F1 was perfect! Some shade and a quick path walk to the bathrooms/showers. Cold showers felt great after hot beach days. No mosquitoes when we were here but there were some ants that bit our feet. Overall, best camping experience to date!

Despite the flooding from recent storms the number of bugs were fairly low, and my campsite, B16, remained dry. I liked its proximity to the bath house and showers. I noticed that the renovations of a few years back are standing the test of time and oceanfront weather pretty well. I saw little of the staff but clearly, they were on the job: my information was correct and at my site when I arrived and the common areas remained clean and stocked for my 4 days stay. Other campers as usual were courteous and friendly. I continue to enjoy the new reservation system and hope it remains in place. Not having to stress finding a suitable site after the long drive to get there is an excellent feature. Overall, a wonderful stay, and I can't wait to go again.

We always love visiting Frisco Campground. The sites are large on rolling hills, and are quite private, enclosed in trees and bushes. Although there were RV generators running up until 10:00pm, we could not hear them because of the foliage. The walk to the beach was beautiful, on a long boardwalk that crosses a grassy area that at night sometimes is covered in fireflies and sometimes deer. We love the Outer Banks and this is definitely our favorite campground.

Frisco campground is the best lodging on Hatteras! Our site, P11, was shady and cool, near the boardwalk for the quick walk to ramp 49, and close to the bathhouse. We had a fabulous week.

Frisco campground is great. Within walking distance of the Atlantic. Has some elevation to weather high water. Convenient to the beach access ramps. Great staff. Nice bathrooms, showers. Somewhat secluded. The only drawback is having to use the wretched and parasitic Recreation.gov to get a reservation. Reservations are required.

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00 - $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. (For an alternate route to NC-12 South, continue on I-95 North to Rocky Mount, NC. Take US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South). Frisco Campground is accessible via NC-12 South, which connects to US-158 East approximately 12 miles to the north. US-64 East also provides access from the west, connecting to NC-12 South at Nags Head.

Policies & Rules
General
- A reservation to camp is required. Same day reservations can be made based on availability.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad, large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Parking on the grass is prohibited.
- There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
- Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
- Most campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are limited sites with shade in the campground.
- The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
