The site, facilities and staff were excellent. The beach is excellent. My only complaint this is year is the excessive amount of ticks that were at the site. I know it’s camping, I know it’s nature, I haven’t experienced this volume of ticks before on myself and my equipment. Otherwise it is great!

Perfect location, beautiful sites. Cold shower is refreshing with lovely views, and the bathrooms are clean and well maintained.

Great location! Quiet! The beach is so close and top notch. The dunes are beautiful. There are some sites with absolutely no privacy (in fact, most sites) but we were lucky enough to book in advance and get one with privacy, on the dune side. Bathrooms were clean. Shower. What can I say: COLD. If this place had hot showers we'd probably stay for 2 weeks. Another note (especially if you have dogs) is the sand burrs are everywhere on the dunes and they are not fun. The stick to everything (especially dogs paws and human feet) and they hurt.

We really liked this campground. It’s very quiet and a fairly easy walk to the beach. Our camp host was delightful! The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because of TICKS.

This is the most fabulous campground! Easy boardwalk to the gorgeous beach, our site was spacious and shady, and everything we could need was nearby in Buxton. Connor’s is my favorite grocery (everything) store anywhere!

We were only there two nights, but we enjoyed the campground very much. Our site had lots of shade so we weren’t too hot in our tent and we could hear the ocean at night. We also were pleased to see deer and other wildlife around the campgrounds. Outside the grounds there were some good restaurants nearby and a store that had all the provisions you need. We also appreciated the wooden boardwalk to the beach. All in all a great experience.

Convenient, nice campground. Unfortunately, one of the larger RVs was running their generator all night so it was noisy. The facilities and showers are a big positive.

Site was little small for big tent but we made it work. Watch out for the POPO. They like to give out tickets for not wearing seatbelts right where you come off the beach or in town hitting shops. Noticed they targeted out of state plates the most

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00 - $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. (For an alternate route to NC-12 South, continue on I-95 North to Rocky Mount, NC. Take US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South). Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Frisco Campground is accessible via NC-12 South, which connects to US-158 East approximately 12 miles to the north. US-64 East also provides access from the west, connecting to NC-12 South at Nags Head.

Policies & Rules
General
- A reservation to camp is required. Same day reservations can be made based on availability.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad, large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Parking on the grass is prohibited.
- There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
- Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
- Most campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are limited sites with shade in the campground.
- The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
