Our favorite spot to camp in the outer banks. The beach is a must. Graveyard of the Atlantic museum is 15 minutes away and plenty of small places to shop and eat.

The campsite was nice. The restrooms were clean and had enough toilet paper all of the time we camped. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful.

Amazing secluded campground with great beach access. The campground and facilities were very clean with everything one needs for a FUN beach trip! A lot of reviews comment on the cold showers. I enjoyed the cold showers after long days on the beach- They were refreshing and invigorating! Can’t wait to return!

Out experience at Frisco Campground was the awesomest! The beach and scenery is a must see, even for a returning local. The associates at the guard stand were helpful with check out.
Feedback- Our campground spot “A001” was perfect, however I do feel somewhat obliged to mention that me and my girlfriend had separate falls, from the drop off the left side (closest to picnic table) of the asphalt. Parked towards the front of that driveway, I nearly fell into this ditch upon arriving in daylight. My girlfriend fell later that night and got cut and scraped up pretty bad actually because the asphalt fall so far down and I would be worried future guests would miss that fall, especially as she did when it was dark.

We booked this trip for my daughter’s 13th birthday. We had originally booked 3 nights but I added an additional 2 nights the weekend prior to the trip.
The website is not at all user friendly and somehow it allowed another camper to reserve our site for one night. Instead of asking the other camper to find another open site, we were asked to move our site. I spent over an hour on the phone woth customer service to get our site switched while my daughter and her friend waited for me.
We had to move nearby since it was nearly 90 degrees and we had camp completely set up for 4 days. The site we moved p15 to was not even a little bit private nor shady which were my primary the reasons I had chosen to book (p12).
The new site also had a lot more bugs.
The camground is lovely and the staff was friendly but overall our experience was not great.

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00 - $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. (For an alternate route to NC-12 South, continue on I-95 North to Rocky Mount, NC. Take US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South). Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Frisco Campground is accessible via NC-12 South, which connects to US-158 East approximately 12 miles to the north. US-64 East also provides access from the west, connecting to NC-12 South at Nags Head.

Policies & Rules
General
- A reservation to camp is required. Same day reservations can be made based on availability.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad, large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Parking on the grass is prohibited.
- There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
- Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
- Most campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are limited sites with shade in the campground.
- The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
