We love this campground and plan to come back time and time again. The access to the beach is amazing. We got a very shaded, large space. The bathrooms and always very clean. The camp hosts are helpful and kind.

Loved this campsite! very spacious and private, right by the bathroom but not close enough to be bothered. this is my 5th time at this campsite and I can't recommend it more always have fun! the only problem we had was raccoons and spiders everywhere!

The campsite was nice and private very easy to back in to. The only this is they only have cold showers so be careful when you take a shower

Beautiful campsites tucked into natural growth. Owls and nightjars aplenty. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained and located throughout campground. Love this place!

Frisco is an excellent campground for those who enjoy the beach and camping but don’t need all the bells and whistles of an RV resort. Sites are excellent and well spaced. Bathhouses and showers are clean. Location is unbeatable especially for those with an off road permit. The campground does provide 2 nice wooden plank accesses to the beach for those on foot. Good location great camping experience!!

This campground exceeded my expectations. We stayed at site A001 for 1.5 weeks in the beginning of June. We found that most of the other tent campers stayed around 1-2 nights during our stay. The privacy here is more than you'll find at nearby beach campsites. I loved being able to sleep nestled between the sand dunes. The wildlife is excellent. We heard and saw many creatures, such as the chuck-will's-widow, nighthawks, Fowler's toads, eastern king snake, eastern cotton tails, white-tailed deer, ospreys, martins, swallows, the list goes on!
The campsite is clean and well maintained. The showers don't have hot water, but that wasn't a problem for us. The restrooms are cleaned daily. There were plenty of friendly faces and interesting people to chat with. The weather was hot and sunny most days early June, but there was an unexpected downpour one night and high speed wind the next day. We were glad A001 had a manicured red cedar tree - we put up a rain tarp and hammock. We enjoyed walking around the campsite, on the beach, and there's a 4 mile trail at the campsite that will lead you to the Hatteras lighthouse. Most of the people I spoke with had been visiting this campsite for years, and I get it. I can't wait to return.

Great private campsites. We enjoyed P50. It had a nice private wooded area with plenty of shade to pitch our tent and chill.

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00 - $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. (For an alternate route to NC-12 South, continue on I-95 North to Rocky Mount, NC. Take US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South). Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Frisco Campground is accessible via NC-12 South, which connects to US-158 East approximately 12 miles to the north. US-64 East also provides access from the west, connecting to NC-12 South at Nags Head.

Policies & Rules
General
- A reservation to camp is required. Same day reservations can be made based on availability.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad, large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Parking on the grass is prohibited.
- There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
- Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
- Most campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are limited sites with shade in the campground.
- The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
