Bathroom and shower facilities were solid. Dumpsters were easily accessible. Our site had lots of shade potential, which is often at a premium at beach campgrounds. Overall, really great.

We loved camping here. The location is awesome. The camp host was very helpful. Our site was near the bathrooms and shower. Both were clean. We will definitely camp here again

The campsites have a good amount of trees and bushes to offer some shade and privacy Bathrooms were clean. The beach is walking distance and beautiful

Some of the sites could use a little leveling. We were tent camping but had to set up on asphalt due to space. Facilities were nice but could use something to move some air. All in all though, we will be back, hopefully on a bigger, flatter site.

First, it is a beautiful campground - DO NOT BRING DOGS! there is absolutely NO WHERE for them to relieve themselves without getting a zillion sand spurs in their paws and fur. We were there for 4 days and each time we walked our dog, it took us 20 minutes when back to the RV and pull/cut the "stickers" out. NOT FUN for either us or our puppers, but there was no other choice. The ground cover is the problem. No sand spurs at the beach, just in the "grass" in the campground. Do not wear your flip flops in your RV after walking in the "grass" outside...they stick to your shoes, your rugs, everything and HURT. We have Verizon cell service - NO CELL SERVICE at the campground, not even with a hotspot. The amenities are sparse but clean. At times there was a wait for the 4 open air COLD WATER showers. (by our campsite)
We had a 26 foot RV trailer and our truck. Backing in our spot was tough as the scrub trees were close to the road and caused some issues/scratching the truck backing in - Some campsites have a nice turning area - having not been here before, we were unaware.
This is basically a campground for tents - again, it's beautiful campground but we will not be coming back.

Nice camp, but I strongly dislike how the rangers have vanished. No one to greet at entry. No one to enforce quiet hours (had some dude blast country music till 12 am). No one to feel secure at night. I think the cost cutting has cut the wrong things. Esp bad given there was 0 verizon coverage. LIKE 0 BARS.

Frisco campground is unique outdoor experience. This maritime forest makes a cozy spot for campsites w a fun hike to the beach.
The only drawback are the ticks. The forest is home to a small deer herd and they obviously carry deer ticks because I get bites every year. So, wear some good insect repellent while lounging in the shade.

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00 - $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. (For an alternate route to NC-12 South, continue on I-95 North to Rocky Mount, NC. Take US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South). Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Frisco Campground is accessible via NC-12 South, which connects to US-158 East approximately 12 miles to the north. US-64 East also provides access from the west, connecting to NC-12 South at Nags Head.

Policies & Rules
General
- A reservation to camp is required. Same day reservations can be made based on availability.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad, large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Parking on the grass is prohibited.
- There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
- Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
- Most campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are limited sites with shade in the campground.
- The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
