Frisco Campground offers a beautiful beach on Hatteras Island, with clean facilities and private campsites surrounded by nature. Guests appreciate the quiet atmosphere and proximity to the beach, as well as the well-maintained bathrooms and showers. One of the most poorly maintained federal sites I’ve experienced. Sands spurs so overgrown you couldn’t use the grill or bbq. Need some help

Campground was clean, sites were well marked. Bathroom facilities and shower buildings were serviced regularly. Showers only had cold water but felt good to get the sand off. Staff was friendly.

It wasn't far to the beach. The camping spot was great. Lots to do in the area!

The minimal contact check in experience was deeply appreciated. The sites are generally tight to access and except for a half dozen or so, or no longer than 43 to 45 ft. The only way to fill your water tank is to park in front of one of the restrooms (where the water spigots are placed) and you will be blocking the road while you fill.
Bring lots of leveling blocks.

P57 had no place to set up a tent. We had to move the picnic table to the asphalt to make a space to set the tent. Next to the road and the grill. Then there were burrs everywhere. We had to drive the dogs down to Hwy 12. Not kid or dog friendly at this spot. The view was beautiful though!!

Beautiful and natural setting in walking distance from the ocean. Would have liked even better if the showers were warm, if there was a closer dump station and a fish cleaning station. Note for pet owners: the grass has a lot of burrs or sand spurs. We carried our dog to the woods so he could walk on pine needles instead. We would definitely go back again. There is no beach any more beautiful. A very peaceful setting. We also enjoyed riding our bicycles in the campground. The restrooms and entire campground are kept very clean and neat.

Other than the prickly goat heads that were not fun for the dogs, it was a great campground. The stars were amazing. The walk to the beach was great. The bathrooms and showers were clean and functional. The rangers were super welcoming and informative. We wanted to experience the beach and it did not disappoint. Next time we will inquire about a "drive on the beach" pass. It was very popular in driving your vehicle on the beach.

The campground location from the beach is great. Across from the entrance to the grounds is a gas station with a small grocery store that was very convienent for last minute items and ice. The site location (F5) was nice and quiet. Reasonably close to bathrooms. We were disappointed that the site was not maintained in anyway. (Knee high grass shoots matched with sand spurs) We spoke with the park ranger upon arrival about switching sites (we have small children). I was told that although there was the availability online, its a lot of work to switch sites in the computer system. I mention about our request in wanting to switch being the upkeep
The park ranger suggested I write a review with my suggestion about the site upkeep. Since we weren't able to switch sites, we spent sometime clearing a pad for our tents, around our picnic table and grill area. Not all site locations in the park are like this. If bringing an RV, I would have no problems with any sites. Every site seems to have enough parking space.
