Frisco Campground on Hatteras ISLAND has one of the most beautiful beaches on the Atlantic coast. the campground is quiete and the facilities, while old, are kept clean. Access to the beach itself is fine as there are several boardwalks to go over the sand dunes. The campsites are kept clean.

We camped at Frisco about 2 weeks ago, and we absolutely love it. We stayed on the P loop- the shade, and the privacy is AMAZING- the bathrooms, and the showers are CLEAN!!! They even have tile down, unlike a few I have camped at, I would say watch out for the sand spurs, but other than that it was perfect! We will be back Labor Day weekend, and we were just there this past weekend as well! Beautiful campground, and literally only steps away / drive from the beaches. We have a dog and she loves it there as well!

Me and four friends came to stay at this campsite and had a great time. It was an easy walk to the beach using the boardwalk and we were able to surf every day. The bathrooms and showers were clean and in good condition. Overall a great experience and I would highly recommend!

The campground, bathrooms and shower house was all very well maintained, great staff and a wonderful view. Very easy access to everything close by! While you are there i would highly recommend stopping by Frisco sandwich co for breakfast it is delicious! Will definitely be coming back and recommending the campground to everyone!

Nice quiet week. Glad I left Before the hoards of Labor Day Weekend campers got there. Never saw a Host. Never needed one for that matter. It’s a shame I can only use this campground 14 days in a calendar year.

It was my second stay at this campground. The campground hosts again were amazing. I hiked the mountains to sea trail from the campground to the british soldier monument on Lighthouse Road and back. Longer than I thought judging by the maps I found online. Thisntime of year was very hot! I actually left a day and a half early because of the heat. No breeze to speak of where my tent was. But just like April, a great overall stay!

North (From Richmond, VA)<br />
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00...
North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00 - $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. (For an alternate route to NC-12 South, continue on I-95 North to Rocky Mount, NC. Take US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South). Highway access
Frisco Campground is accessible via NC-12 South, which connects to US-158 East approximately 12 miles to the north. US-64 East also provides access from the west, connecting to NC-12 South at Nags Head.
Policies & Rules
General
- A reservation to camp is required. Same day reservations can be made based on availability.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad, large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Parking on the grass is prohibited.
- There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
- Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
- Most campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are limited sites with shade in the campground.
- The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
