Frisco Campground offers a beautiful beach on Hatteras Island, with clean facilities and private campsites surrounded by nature. Guests appreciate the quiet atmosphere and proximity to the beach, as well as the well-maintained bathrooms and showers. Outstanding in every way imaginable. The most beautiful and well maintained NPS campground consistently for many, many years. I truly love this campground, I am senior citizen and I have been a camper since my early teens, I've always been impressed with NPS campgrounds. The last couple of years has been hard for dedicated NPS employees as well as the National Parks, However, despite the hardships I have found dedicated employees who believe in the importance of our National Parks, I am very thankful for that. The Outer Banks is a very special place, and I hope my children and my grandchildren will have the opportunity throughout their life to experience it. I have and I am better for it.

We love that it's possible to walk to the beach from this campground!
We were lucky to get a site with plenty of tree cover and space to tuck the tents back away from the road. When choosing a site, be sure to consult the satellite images for a better idea of what you are getting. A lot of the sites are tiny, with little-to-no room off the parking pad, forcing the pitching of tents right on the road. But some are spacious and have tree cover.
Restrooms were clean and never out of toilet paper.
This would be a five-star campground if 1) prohibitions on generator use after 10pm were enforced, 2) the walkable beach didn't happen to be one that allows driving, and 3) there was hot water in the showers! In summer, the ground-temperature water is tolerable, but I would not choose to camp in any of these NPS Hatteras campgrounds outside of peak season.

Frisco Campground is a true camping experience. We love the trees on the rolling dunes. The breeze is wonderful coming off the ocean. Rangers are very courteous & helpful. It’s so peaceful listening to the waves roll in under the stars at night. Wonderful restaurants nearby like Highway 12 & Pops! We will return next year.

We have stayed here before, we love the privacy of the sites. We have a large camper, hard to pick sites on line. We arrived late Saturday evening. Site was tight, the door opened to bushes. Spoke to camp host Sunday 9/13 they offer a few open sites we could move to. Worked out so perfect for our stay. We will see you again.
