Camping at Frisco reminds me and my extended family that we humans are not in charge, nature is. To be in the wind, the sun and the rain by the ocean is invigorating and available for us who are not wealthy. Thank you National Parks.

Campground is great as a whole, sites are spread out, nice bath houses/toilets & NPS staff is friendly. Lots of flora with little problem from mosquitos, however, ticks (lone star tick in particular) are absolutely a different story. My advice, If you visit is use repellant & If you have pets, use prevention and monitor daily. Time of year may have been a factor as this is the first time we have been to Frisco in late May-early June & have never had a problem in the past.

Upon arrival to our site, we were clearing pine cones & sticks from our site to set up the tent. Looked down at our legs & we were covered in ticks - most with a white spot on them. Tried to find a ranger to see if we could change sites but couldn't find anyone. Left, went to another NPS campground & set up. Fortunately they were kind enough to give me a refund.

This is the only public campground on the OBX that has truly shady campsites. When booking, look for those because there are also many no-shade spots. Facilities are basic but clean. It would be nice to have a ranger or someone to who could answer general questions. Rangers drive through a couple of random times a day and they’re easy to miss!

Loved my night at Frisco Campground! Very quiet with very clean restrooms and easy access to the beach at Site P008. The live oaks and vegetation make this site quite private.

I camped here a LOT as a kid, & now I'm taking my kids. I can't recommend this campground enough. Compared to others, there's space, privacy, shade, & beach access. This will always be my go-to when I visit the OBX. Also, site P018 is an EXCELLENT site with plenty of the above.

Stayed one night. Nice clean campsite. Facilities well maintained. Wildlife (racoons, deer, and birds) very active in the camp during day and overnight hours. Bugs were noticeable but not overwhelming. Walk to beach is a little long. I only made the trip once. Son made it twice. Nice area for 4x4 beach, if you’ve got one..
Overall very happy with stay. I will visit again if the opportunity presents itself.
