My husband and I have been going to Portsmouth for over 30 years and every August we rent cabins at Long Point and take out whole family, which is about 20 now. Our oldest grandson was 2 when we starting taking him. He is now 28 years old and we are now taking our great grandchildren. It is a wonderful place to capture plenty of life long memories. We all love Portsmouth so much!!!!

This is a destination for true nature lovers...Take everything with you that you will need to survive and leave nothing but your footprints. Tent camping only at this time

This is the best place to just unplug and relax, But make sure to bring everything you need food wise and drink wise for the duration of your stay. As the web site says...there is only ice and gas on the island. But its worth it. Its beautiful here.

We have been staying at Long Point Cabins for about 12 years and have enjoyed them more every time we come. There is nowhere else that you can enjoy the true beauty of staying at the ocean as it truly should be. The cabins are wonderful for a family or group that doesn't need to stay in a commercial beach house with all the tourist attractions.

I love Long Point! Absolutely gorgeous and Rangers are perhaps the best people on Earth! Please consider allowing us as a tight nit community, to rebuild, volunteer and bring back our island to full capacity. It is among the most special places on earth! Rick and Kari at Morris Marina have watched my kids grow up and my beard turn gray. Please! We beg for yall to allow us to rebuild it!

We stayed at Long Point Cabins on Portsmouth Island for the weekend. Let me start by saying, this was not long enough! We first arrived at Morris Marina to take the ferry over to the island. The ride over was a treat in itself. The kids really enjoyed riding in the SUV on a boat! Once we arrived we went to the office to check in. Everything was ready to go, the ranger gave us a few basic tips for driving and exploring the beach and then we headed over to the cabin. The cabin is very rustic. Basically just a room, beds, small kitchen and table. It's really nothing special, but it was perfect in its on way. Be warned it is dirty (sandy) and there are bugs that visit, but you're primitive camping with a shelter and shower here. Just bring a few cleaning supplies (there is a broom there) and some bug spray and you will be fine!
There isn't an air conditioner, but with the strong wind that's always blowing you won't miss it. There isn't a refrigerator, so bring a cooler that keeps ice for a few days and still be prepared to buy more at the office. The beach was absolutely amazing! We drove down the beach and went shelling. The kids flew kites and played football. We brought lots of outdoor games to play. We had 4 of our 5 kiddos with us, ranging in age from 19 to 11 and they did not argue one single time! It was honestly, without a doubt the best family vacation we have ever had. We were so saddened by the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian. We were planning on returning to this paradise again this summer. We pray the cabins get fixed so we can return again to make more memories like the ones we cherish so much from last summer! For those of us that do not have tents, or campers and don't live close enough for a day trip, the cabins are the only way we can enjoy Portsmouth. Hopefully last summer won't be the only time we get to experience such a wonderful place.

We love the natural view, uncluttered by buildings. No matter what time of year, fishing, shelling, and bird watching is exciting. It's also great for star gazing since there is minimum light pollution. Our family spends a week there every summer, sometimes renting 2 cabins for everyone. Everyone is happy since the cabins provide a camping experience as well as providing mom with conveniences of electricity and indoor plumbing! It is the best of all worlds!

Fantastic time had by the whole Family!! Realize the cabins are rustic, so no-frills, but for those looking for an outdoor beach experience nothing better.

The best family vacation ever. A great way to get the family to detach from things that do not matter and focus on what does. We love going to the island and have been more than a few times.
