Awesome location!
It may have been April when I visited, but the time spent there was well worth it. To be totally honest, I felt so relaxed, I totally lost track of which day of the week and month it was.
Sites are clean, the campground host was very friendly.
And to top things off, it was "pull rope" showers. Loved it.
Thanks NPS for providing nice campgrounds.

Great location with beach access and fishing. Spot 30C was nice. Close to the bathroom, quiet (very little traffic noise), and the living side of our 5th wheel was in the shade during the evening hours as the sun was setting. Fishing center across the street has a new and really nice restaurant with great views. We’ll be back. We have t-mobile and the signal was strong.

We enjoyed our time there. Even though we are not really beach goers. The campground is very open and has no trees so you are relatively close to your neighbors but it is a pretty mellow campground - specially when we went - late in September. You really can't hear the road and I think all sites are the same unless you want to be close to the facilities - which we were. The showers are unique. You have to hold unto a string to make the water flow but once it does you feel like you are under a waterfall. The facilities were relatively clean. No laundry or place to do your dishes. The beach is at a walking distance of all the sites and fun to visit early morning and evening. Restaurants at Nags Head are about a 15 - 20 minute drive and Kill Devil Grille is a must go place if you visit the area (sit at the bar if you are a couple). We never visited the restaurant across the street but we understand it is good.

Great experience. Campground was quiet and people were friendly. Just a short walk over the sand dunes to the beach.
Bathhouse was great and showers were especially nice. Will return.

Away from the crowds! Great beach,nice sites.
The new restaurant Sea Chef at the marina was excellent- some of 5ge best shrimp I have ever eaten.
Unfortunately the folks across from us ran their generator from 8am until 10 pm. Fewer hrs would be great as well as mor3 sites w electric.

Sat/Sun 10/5&6 - site was fine. Showers were warm (I was surprised). Ocean access over dunes was a little tedious, but....😊

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00- $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South, and the campground will be on your left just before you reach Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance. Continue on NC-12 South, and the campground will be on your left just before you reach Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South, and the campground will be on your left just before you reach Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.
Oregon Inlet Campground is accessible via NC-12 South, which connects to US-158 East and is reached from I-64 and US-64. US-64 provides access from the west, while US-158 serves as a primary route from the north and east.

Policies & Rules
General
- All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.
- Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
- There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
- The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
