The place isn’t bad definitely and the people working there were friendly and pretty hands off which is nice when you’re just trying to chill. The sites are all pretty close together so if you’re thinking of camping here to escape people you won’t unless you go during a time almost nobody else is.

I would make sure to check what bath houses are open when you are there in the off season and then plan accordingly.

Very good off-season experience! We have stayed on the OBX many times, but this was our first OBX camping adventure. Know that it is ALWAYS windy, so tent camping could be a challenge. We had one night of gale force winds while we were there. The campground is wide open, particularly loops B & C. While you can hear the ocean from the campground, it's a walk or drive over the dunes to get to the beach. The bathrooms in loop A & B were open, C was closed. All of the showers were closed at the time of our visit. The bathrooms were very clean and warm! There is a low to moderate amount of road noise from Rt 12.

I really enjoyed the campsite! I loved how close it was to the ocean and the amenities were nice. I wish check-in instructions were clearer as I was unsure what exactly I was supposed to do when I got there. Campsite was kept very clean and everyone there was respectful. Employee that night was very sweet. I went to the surfin spoon and had some great froyo. On my way back to Raleigh I stopped by alligator river and Pocosin lakes wildlife Refuges. Both are beautiful spots. I also stopped at the aquarium on Roanoke Island.

We spent a fantastic week here in March. Super clean, well maintained campground.

Only some of the bathrooms were unlocked and the stalls had no toilet paper for two days while we were there. Didn’t see the camp host and their camper had an off duty sign on it the whole time.
There was a sign saying that the dumpsitw would re-open on Feb 9th which was clearly on the past and was nowhere near ready to reopen.
Overall disappointing compared to our last visit.

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00- $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South, and the campground will be on your left just before you reach Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance. Continue on NC-12 South, and the campground will be on your left just before you reach Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South, and the campground will be on your left just before you reach Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.
Oregon Inlet Campground is accessible via NC-12 South, which connects to US-158 East and is reached from I-64 and US-64. US-64 provides access from the west, while US-158 serves as a primary route from the north and east.

Policies & Rules
General
- All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.
- Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
- There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
- The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
