Nice campground in a gorgeous location. Well kept campsites and clean bathrooms with HEATED SHOWERS, although they are open to the outside and you get cold. Still that's much better than Ocracoke, that only has cold showers.

This campground was great. From here we got to see the Outer Banks from one point to the other. Nags Head, Duck, Wright Brothers Memorial, Hatteras Lighthouse, etc. Nice clean sites with power and water. We would definitely stay again. Also half price with our America the Beautiful Pass.

Very nice campground, short walk to the ocean, plenty of space between campsites, a mother bear and her 2 cubs crossed the road in front of us at the Alligator River Refuge….just a great time

Clean restrooms, great location, loved the Marina, restaurant, dump station and gas across the street.
The beach was just over the dunes.

Campsites are small. The area next to the paved parking is not very level so it was hard to set up the site. Worst of all, the grass near the site was full of goatheads, small sharp burrs that the dog picked up on her paws and fur. We had to remove all of those and keep her off the ground unless we carried her to the road. We also had to take our shoes off every time we went in the camper so as not to carry them inside.

The bathhouse was clean enough. The dump station is up the road near the bridge. It looks like a two side access but one dump hole is cemented over so its really on a single.

We enjoyed this campground. It is just a short walk over the dunes to the beautiful beach. It is very clean and we Will definitely stay again if we are in the area. If you camper is bigger than 39 feet most sites would not work.

Policies & Rules

General

  • All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.
  • Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
  • Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
  • Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
  • A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
  • All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.
  • Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
  • There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
  • The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
