Oregon Inlet Campground

Host was helpful and friendly, bathrooms always clean and well-stocked. Location of this campground is amazing - within walking distance of the beach and the Oregon Inlet harbor, 10 minutes from Bodie Island lighthouse. Having access to power for AC was important as there is no shade, and the sites are quite close, but overall a lovely campground and would happily return.

I had hoped to get tickets for the Bodie Island Lighthouse Full Moon climb, unfortunately they sold out as tickets are limited and sell out fast! I already had my campsite booked and chose to still take avantage of seeing the Strawberry moonrise. I tent camped solo and felt very safe in the full campground. I hiked a couple miles on the beach the next morning and grabbed coffee at the new, Oregon Inlet restaurant and store conveniently located across the road. The only thing that kept me awake was the bright, full moon and talkative birds. :)

We arrived early from checking out at Frisco , about 12:45 pm. We had concerns about the size of the available site, b16, and sure enough there is absolutely no way that one could back a ram 350 crew cab truck with a 28 ft trailer in and keep all wheels on the asphalt. In the effort I heard screaming and yelling and an implication that I was drunk. I exited the vehicle to face a deranged, demented heated ranger channeling a marine drill sergeant about 10 inches from my face. I said that I was not drunk, and may have pushed him back. If I did it was in self defense and not a push, more of a touch. In any event more yelling that I touched him, that is exact , I touched him and was I drunk and he could throw me out of the park. The hosts were there and said that it best that we leave until after three because it would be trouble with this ranger otherwise. This, plus we could not fit in the campsite, caused us to scrub our plans and vacation and return home. I am 87, been camping my entire life, am a veteran, and never encountered such a disrespectful, unprofessional, insensitive, insulting and condescending horror show anywhere, at any time, except at the movies, a marine drill sergeant. Given that a large percentage of the sites are of a size and angle such that it is impossible to back in and keep all wheels on the pavement and that there is at least one ranger that is not there to help, and being 87, we are done. All other experience with the rangers and hosts have been good to excellent, including the stay at Frisco, the park that we left that very morning.

Third time camping here but I wasn't as pleased with this site (C-25) as with others past. The usable space at the site for our canopies, chairs, tents, etc. was considerably less than most of the other sites with electric and water hookups due to "dune" vegetation being allowed to encroach. Then the grass at the site was way overdue for mowing; some grass stalks were knee-high. This seemed to be the case to varying degrees at other sites too, but ours was among the worst.

Positives are the same as with previous visits: Great value (especially with senior pricing), clean restrooms and showers, proximity to the beach. We will definitely return but not to this site.

None of the showers worked. Left the first night. Didn’t stay the whole reservation days.

Had a great time! The walk to the beach from the campsite is long, yes, but i like the exercise. I got plenty of bug bites, sure, but it was my first time car camping at the Oregon Inlet Campground and i’ll be sure the bring a bug net or something next time

Overall this is a great camp site right next to the ocean. The one disadvantage is that they allow the use of generators from 6am to 10pm everyday. There is nothing like waking up to the sound of a very noisy generator. While we were buffered to some extent by the noise in our RV. There were campers in tents right next to some sites running them.
At a bare minimum it would be nice to limit the use say 10am to 4pm.

Please move the dump station to the campground— away from the congested parking lot where the new restaurant & the fishing excursion boat parking is making it dangerous to maneuver an RV to the dump. An accident is ready to happen!

Good campground, but absolutely no shade. The scenic bypass is very close and with the wind coming from this direction there was constant traffic noise. Nice walking access to the beach.
