Amazing place, our 6 time. Be warned nature, and storms are poweful, as are the insects. In July, on our first night 7 ez up tents were crushed by wind / storms. Many tents flooded, so out in obx, your 20 miles offshore and nature is full on inher power and beauty. This place is stunning and for the hardy!

Bathrooms and showers clean. Campground quiet. Ocean on other side of dunes. Be prepared fir storms often and windy conditions. Only drawback is the trucks on the beach make it hard to walk.

Great place to stay. I like that you can walk or drive to the beach. Bugs can be a little aggressive if the wind dies down. Overall we will be back again for sure.

Bathrooms were clean and overall it was nice. They really need to keep the grass areas mowed better.
There was no camp host, and no one showed up when we were told they would.
The thorny spikes burr seeds were awful and got on everything including our dogs’ paws, it was terrible . Not sure what if anything they could do about that.

I love the Oregon Inlet Campground. It really gives you the full effect of camping the Outer Banks. Lots to see and do between the fishing marina across the road to the Bodi Lighthouse down the street. Far enough away to feel like you’re really out there but yet close enough to great beaches, towns, site seeing, fishing, kayaking and so much more. I’ll be back.

Oregon Inlet is one of my favorite campgrounds. What’s not to like, the grounds are well maintained, the beach is across the dunes and there is a ramp next door if you choose to drive in the beach…

Proximity to Roanoke Island and Nags Head is excellent. There's a nice trail to the beach. There is pedestrian access from the campground to the fishing center across the road. Also, Pea Island Nature Reserve is just over the bridge. I recommend wearing shoes at all times, as the sand spurs are vicious and numerous.

Policies & Rules

General

  • All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.
  • Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
  • Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
  • Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
  • A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
  • All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.

  • There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
  • The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
