Beautiful peaceful campground with many sites having water and electricity. Unfortunately the dump station nearby was closed for our stay and the nearest place to dump was about 10 miles away but I believe it’s open again now. Best part was our lovely hosts, Dylan and Megan. It was refreshing to have young people doing that job. They were friendly and delightful as well as knowledgeable and kept the place tidy and clean.

Beautiful campground, well maintained, right on the beach, quiet. Next time I’d choose a site not next to a trail as the trail is just a few feet wide which lends to certain other campers allowing their dogs relieve themselves feet from our camper door, under our picnic table etc.

Everything went fine except we could have used a dump station, however one the rangers was nice enough to tell us where there was one free of charge up North so overall everything worked out.

Really nice campground with the Atlantic on one side and Pamlico Sound on the other with a great dark sky. Its location midway along the Outer Banks gives you a lot of options for things to do, from visiting historical sites to fishing or enjoying the small towns.
The facilities were all in good shape with helpful and friendly hosts. One thing that did surprise me was the noise from highway 12 which is very close to the campground. I guess the surroundings were so quite that what traffic did come through seemed so noticeable.
One downside to this trip was that the RV dump was not available because of work being done at the marina across the road. That should just be a temporary issue, but you may want to check before you arrive in case you want to dump before you get there. The Sara Owens Welcome Center in Manteo has a free RV dump available. Very nice!

Always a great place to visit. Great price, close to the beach, and quiet. It's a quick drive to town, but you are far enough away that you can spend your time on the beach with not many people.

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00- $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South, and the campground will be on your left just before you reach Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance. Continue on NC-12 South, and the campground will be on your left just before you reach Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South, and the campground will be on your left just before you reach Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.
Oregon Inlet Campground is accessible via NC-12 South, which connects to US-158 East and is reached from I-64 and US-64. US-64 provides access from the west, while US-158 serves as a primary route from the north and east.

Policies & Rules
General
- All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.
- Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
- There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
- The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
