You might as well call the showers here “primitive”. I mean no full doors from outside and pour a bucket of cold water over your head! No hooks for towels, no bench! Really needs to be UPDATED!!!

Campground was quiet (you could hear the ocean as a constant background "white noise". Our site wasn't perfectly level, but not difficult to level the trailer. If it wasn't for the propane fridge I probably wouldn't have bothered leveling. The campground is convenient to the Bonner Bridge pier and the Wright Brother's memorial. The drive to Ocracoke is enjoyable. At night you could see the light from the Bodie Lighthouse. Staff were friendly. The showers and bathhouse were clean.

Only criticism is I'm not a fan of the open shower design. The showers could use some additional hooks placed high enough so that your things don't get wet while showering (and maybe a shelf). A plus is that the hot water felt great when showering on a cold, windy night.

Policies & Rules

General

  • All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.
  • Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
  • Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
  • Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
  • A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
  • All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.
  • Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
  • There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
  • The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party.
