Bring a heavy tent and deep stakes for this windy oasis. The showers were warm and the restrooms were clean. I was surprised by the trucks on the beach but surf fishing is popular down there. The staff was efficient and knowledgeable regarding the wildlife and their seasonal habits. Don't feed the gulls !

We go for the beach and it’s a great beach behind the camp. Also take a day in Manteo. The showers were clean. The only thing that would make it better is if it had sewer also.

Although the sites are closer together than I would like and much older, I would visit here again many times if the opportunity presented itself. The Outer Banks were a fabulous vacation spot for us. No issues with the utilities at the site and the dump station was conveniently located across the road at the marina. I showered at the bath house to save gray tank capacity and actually enjoyed the shower. As others have shared, you pull down on the lever and a massive wall of warm water is unleashed. Nothing like the puny flow you normally receive. We did not experience any issues with the close proximity of neighbors and had a very pleasant stay.

Policies & Rules

General

  • All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.
  • Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
  • Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
  • Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
  • A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
  • All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.
  • Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
  • There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
  • The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party.
