Great spot near oceanfront....great prices....Take a shower before dark bc no lights in the showers.....very quite and peaceful

Fist night was a little noisy, but not after 10 PM. Camp site 18 was close to the bathroom, plus for me. Hike over to the beach was little longer than expected. Grass certainly needed to be cut. Showers and bathrooms both were clean and loved that hot water! I usually stay at cape point and that is quite the shower experience. Never saw who was overlooking the place. My tag was already on the post when I arrived, and I had no need to see anyone. Overall it was a good experience.

The beach is our favorite place to be so for this fact alone we enjoyed our stay. There are a couple of things to keep in mind…not negatives to all but definitely worth being aware of. First it is a long way through very soft sand to get to the water! Second - you may not experience this but we were constantly bothered by pesky biting flies whenever we stepped out of the camper….even on the beach! I don’t recall this happening anywhere else all along the outer banks except here? Other than that we had a great time.

Campsite facilities were great. Appreciated the showers! You can hear the highway thorough out the day and at night. Be prepared for full exposure.

The location of the campground is great. It's close to these restaurants, stores at Nags Head. And it is right besides the dunes. It took us 3-5 mins walk to the beach. The beach is very beautiful and shallow. Water is very clear at the time we were there.
I rate it 4 star not 5 because of the burrs. They are everywhere and not able to control. It stick through our tent and flow with winds . My dogs are victims too. Recommend wear shoes all the time and also put them on for your dogs.
Sand flies, mosquitos are also problems. Definitely need to apply the repellent on every inch of your skin. And my dog's belly was bite very bad... Don't forget to apply dog safe repellent for them.
I may book again but not in August/September.

I wanted to give one star so people would stay away from our favorite CG, but I can't really do that. We've stayed here many, many times before and never been disappointed.
Bring your own shade, bring bug spray and sunscreen, expect bugs if there's not enough wind to keep them down. Remember you're camping in the sand on the beach, and don't go barefoot until you're actually ON the beach. The sand-spurs WILL get you if you don't.

There was such a nice sea breeze, that we didn't even turn on the air conditioner in the camper. We slept with the windows open. What a great sleep!

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00- $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South, and the campground will be on your left just before you reach Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance. Continue on NC-12 South, and the campground will be on your left just before you reach Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South, and the campground will be on your left just before you reach Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.
Oregon Inlet Campground is accessible via NC-12 South, which connects to US-158 East and is reached from I-64 and US-64. US-64 provides access from the west, while US-158 serves as a primary route from the north and east.

Policies & Rules
General
- All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.
- Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
- There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
- The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
