Curtis Creek Campground (NC)

We love Curtis Creek and have been coming for over 15 years. It was still under construction after the hurricane but we were VERY impressed with the progress thus far. We understand that the damage was significant and extensive. We look forward to seeing the new upper bathrooms when they are finished. The new tent pads, tables, and fire rings made a big difference and were a huge improvement. The campground hosts were fantastic and super friendly and welcoming. We can't wait to come back!

The creek is so beautiful! We loved hearing it roar from our campsite and it helped to drown out noise from other camp sites, cars, etc. The site we booked (#1) was listed as a group campsite for ten with parking for three cars. There is parking for one car AT the site and then there is a large parking lot right across the way. This site will not accommodate a back of truck kind of tent and there are boulders blocking vehicles from driving onto the site. The pad was big enough for one 8 person tent and one 2 person tent. It is a treacherous climb down to the creek but it can be done. Doable for bigger kids. The nearest bathroom stall is one site over but it did not have a door. We will go back because the kids loved the creek so much!

Let's start by saying that I have camped here for many years. The new host was very friendly and the grounds very clean of debris. I normally tent camp on #18 but this time I brought my wife so I hauled my small camper up the hill for her comfort. We enjoyed our stay very much and I was happy to see the campground back open. Thank you for the hard work to those that made this re-opening a success. I will definitely be back to visit Curtis Creek Campground again in the near future.

We absolutely loved staying here for our first camping trip in NC! Campground Hosts were awesome. They welcomed us upon arrival and were so friendly and helpful throughout our stay! We will definitely be back!

Fantastic

Group campsite # 1 was a perfect layout for a 10 man tent with access to the creek and a short walk to the bathroom. The fire ring has an adjustable grill which made outdoor cooking with cast iron, fun.

Stayed for the first time since the campground was closed due to hurricane helene. All of the updates are great! Still a wonderful campground experience and the host/manager is super friendly and welcoming! All of the campsites are updated with new tent pads, fire pits and even offer hooks for hammocks! Still one of our favorite camping getaways and highly recommend it!

Very well maintained campground. Not large which made it nice especially at night so you didn’t hear your neighbors where we stayed. Great access to trails on site, a couple of choices on difficulty. No cell service so great way to disconnect.

Repairs after Helene are excellent! The host was helpful.
The group from McDowell Comm College was fun to watch, working tirelessly through some storms, continuing to improve the trails!

I loved this campground. I chose the site at the very back and it was the most private, though I was the only one in the back section of the campground for the night. My site was right next to the bathrooms (slight odor with the wind but closing the doors helped when I was physically at the site). This site was also right next to the new trailhead for Hickory Branch Falls Trail. I didn't make it to the falls (maybe 20 min in it seemed like a Helene landslide had interrupted the directions I'd downloaded) but found a beautiful mini falls area with a small swimming hole for an evening dip. Heard wood thrush and the rhododendrons were blooming. Trail was super quiet, I didn't see a soul. Perfect spot to clear my head, watch fireflies, and read Mary Oliver poems. I plan to return.

Campground was very clean. Host was respectful and attentive. Can't wait to camp there again.
